Housefull 3 was steady on Day 8 at the box office, which has given the film a chance to finish with lifetime business of around the same level as the previous film in the series.
Compared to the opening day collections of Post IPL releases, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani remains the biggest of them all. With inflation adjusted, the opening day of the film today would have been somewhere around the 23-24 crore mark – which is still considered to be phenomenal for a non-festive and working day release. The other films that fall in the ‘excellent’ category would be ‘Ready’, ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’.

Moving on to the lifetime collections of the ‘Post IPL’ films. Like we’ve mentioned in several articles, it’s been one of the best periods to release films. Return-on-investment and verdict-wise, probably even more so than the Diwali period – which has had only one blockbuster in last few years (Krrish 3). On the other hand, Post IPL period is filled with blockbusters – due to lower budget films, as compared to Diwali.
Looking at the trends, Housefull 3 would probably finish with lifetime business of 110 – 120 crore. The target will be to beat the 2011 film ‘Ready’ and Akshay’s own ‘Holiday: A Solider is Never Off Duty’. The Top 3 films will be out of reach, unless the film manages to show astounding growth this weekend (i.e better than last week) and Udta Punjab gets postponed to a later date.

The film has already recovered its investment and is a clean-hit at the box office. But when it comes to franchise growth (HF3 released 4 years after HF2) and meeting yearly expectations from a favourable period – Housefull 3 could well be considered a ‘under-performer’ when it finally finishes its run in about 3 weeks from now.
recently we hv seen that only content based movies r doing well.hf3 is the only non content movie of this year to become hit and also it did not hv a single holiday apart from sunday.with poor trailor and songs hf3 to score 120 is not a joke.

Indicine, how TWMR is a post ipl release ?it was released on 22 May last year and ipl finished on 24 May.except twmr all other movies released on very 1st Friday after ipl completion.so on what basis u are considering it as “post ipl ” release ?
@Prashant abhishek, more than 100 crore of its collections came after conclusion of IPL. Just because Dilwale / Bajirao / PK / Dhoom 3 released a week before IPL, doesn’t mean they won’t be considered festive or Christmas releases.

Sing is king weekend collection was highest of all time till den beating om shanti om which was released on previous year diwali along side sawaariya.
Even d kind of initial kambakht ishq and blue got was earth shattering.
Indicine will never speak dat wen blue mnik adb released at same day. The screen count of blue was more den combined of mnik and adb even wen it was Salman khan next movie after wanted and akshay Kumars movie after three underperformed project and stil it got 100% occupancy opening later movie failed coz of its content.whereas mnik took disaster opening and movie went on to get same fate.his next movie after two month wid successful director and Ajay Devgan named London dreams went on to flop..his next after 3 month his so called dream project wid anil sharma went on to be flopped badly. badly. Stil indicine can’t figure out why those thing happened and what changes salman khan brought post dat.indicine knows everything bt don’t want to give akshay Kumar his due credit and respect for what he is doing bt constantly trying to degrade him in comparison to khan. Watched Housefull 3 for the third time and now I think that it is the biggest classic on earth ever made .. It is even better than Sholay , Citizen Kane , The Godfather and my all time favourite movie Lootera.. Planning to watch it again with my kids baby nipun .
Most of the films on this list were successfull coz of good content as for Ready the film solemly depended on Salman Star power.
TWMR and Raajneeti are just beyond amaizing,i enjoyed them alot.
HF2 for me was the best film of this Franchise,they need to get the same director for HF4(if it happens)

One of my personal favorites,Garam Masala, released i n 2005.AkshayKumar just teared through that film!
Others are targeting 200cr/300cr mark. Even newcomers like Ranbir, Ranveer, Kangna have crossed 150cr mark. And Akki is still targeting 100cr mark. But according some of his fans he is a Megastar…. LOL.
Since 2010 onwards everybody has been giving superhit or above verdict except the Megastar (LOL) Akki, who sticks to only hits (except the fluke RR)..
Each post IPL release shows tremendous growth in business than the previous one, only exceptions are our jokerboy movies!!!
