Sholay directed by Ramesh Sippy, is arguably one of the best movies to have come out of Bollywood. Every character in Sholay is unique, special and evergreen. As the 3D version of the film is all set to release in theatres in January next year, we are curious to know your favourite characters in the movie.

Amjad Khan as Gabbar Singh is the most popular villain in the history of Hindi Cinema. His dialogues are still etched in the minds of movie goers. Sholay was Amjad Khan’s debut and also the best performance of his career.
Sanjeev Kumar as Thakur. The dialogue delivery, intensity and performance of Sanjeev Kumar in Sholay has to be seen to be believed.
Amitabh Bachchan as Jai and Dharmendra as Veeru. The dialogues and chemistry between Jai and Veeru is legendary and so are their characters.
Hema Malini as Basanti, Jaya Bachchan as Radha and Jagdeep Jaffrey (Father of popular comedian and dancer Javed Jaffrey) as Soorma Bhopali are also very popular characters.
And who can forget Arsani as the Angrez ke zamaane ke jailor. Funny and brilliant! Kalia and Sambha are also remembered to his day.

One imp thing to note, Sanjeev Kumar was just 37 years when he played the character of Thakur in Sholay. Awesome acting.

What about another iconic character samba who always rested on the top of hill and gave the answers of gabbar as gabbar asks him “arey o samba kitna inam rakhe hai sarkar humare upar” and samba replied from top of hill very loudly “sardar pure pachas hazar”. haha

I saw that movie when I was 8 I think and I forgot every thing about it except Gabbar. He was the best thing in the movie. whenever they say sholay I say Gabbar :D
