Only 9 films have managed to collect Rs 100 crore or more at the box office in 2014 and PK has managed to collect nearly 100 crore in its second week at the box office. That pretty much sums up the historic run of Aamir Khan’s latest release.
PK is currently the second highest grosser of all time, behind Dhoom 3 (284 crore). No film in the history of Indian Cinema, has been given as many shows and screens as PK in its third week, which is again, expected to be historic.
3 Idiots collected Rs 30 crore in its third week, which remains the highest for any film. PK is likely to beat that, could do so in its third weekend itself!

well I dont agree with this reason…dubbing is done to reach a wider audience and the people involved with the people involved with this project needs to find ways to make the film reach to every common man…moreover this is a family film, more so the reason it has to target large number of people…yes, this is granted that dubbed versions are never of the same quality as offered by the original versions…there is a disconnect felt due to different artists (dubbing artist) offering their voice for a different artist (actor)…Even i prefer to watch subtitled versions as opposed to dubbed ones because dubbed ones tends to temper with the quality of the movie…but audio versions are easy to comprehend than subtitled ones, plus it caters to the illeterate ones, as a result expanding its own market…There is still a long way for subtitled versions being accepted on a mass level…
If creatively spoken, dubbed versions can also evolve in quality…dubbed ones are far better when the actors, who were involved with the film offers their voices in the other versions…agreed the actor might not be well versed with the language creating a hindrance in portraying, but if the respective actors put effort in understanding the emotions involved with the words they will be saying, the product is much better with least diconnectivity…
again comming back to PK, thinking logically, yes he absorbs gujrati language, but that’s never an issue with him communicating with Hindi speaking characters in the film…so in other words, PK could have even absorbed Hindi language and the film would have still been the same…so if PK just absorbs telegu/tamil, and rest of the cast members have said telegu/tamil, the film would have done the job which the dubbed versions are meant to do… i.e. reaching a wide audience and this film deserves it..
and if your point of concern is with PK being in Gujrat learning Tamil/Telegu, then we should also consider the fact that PK learns from a prostitute, and she can be of any ethinicity..but if I reason with logic, this doesn’t even need to be considered as the motive of a dubbed version is to reach more people…
I dont care what PK earsns with the dubbed version, but a film like PK with a strong social message needs to be targetted for mass audience and reach to as many people in India…and be an eye opener for a country where such diversity exist..

Watched this movie on 31st December at PVR Phoenix Market City Bangalore with almost full capacity.. people were laughing their hearts out throughout the movie..even my friends who have seen the movie have praised PK a lot.. some of my colleagues at work have seen it 3/4/7 times in the theatre!!! this is the pull and repeat audience the movie is enjoying!!!
AAMIR SIR and RAJU HIRANI SIR along with VVC are the TRUE GEMS of INDIAN CINEMA!!!!

anyways south producers can easily remake this film in their languages as thry hv previously remade films like 3 idiots,munnabhai series,a Wednesday,dabangg,aashiqui2,bbb etc

I know only three languages and to an extent, contained with this limited specific knowledge…would really love to learn some languages like Tamil and telegu which will help me in watching certain south indian flicks without reading subtitles…I guess you are from Kolkata, try watching this flick of south called Vinnaihandi Varuvaya, an accidental masterpiece…with a poignant ending…superb…south flicks have quality and am super impressed with their stuffs…

So that many creative gems are given wings to reach a wider audience which it generally fails with its confined language and gets lost…now I haven’t watched Vinnaithandi Varuvaya in dubbed Hindi as I hate dubbed versions and prefer subtitled ones…that doesn’t temper with the film…but subtitled versions reach has limited in scope as not everybody is literate in India…also some doesn’t like reading subs and prefer audio versions…so imagine a dubbed version’s reach…yes i agree with you that quality is compromised but that’s an old school thought…Creativity has no bounds and if their is some limit, then there is no evolution….i have given certain examples on how a dubbed version can be bettered (you can refer my previous message), and this is not something which i hav discovered, this is something done by some regional films who likes to extend its reach…
plus PK deals with a sensitive issue called religion and its not an easy task for everyone to address such an issue as well as manage to entertain…Its Hirani’s signature flick and its not everone’s cup of tea to replicate the same magic of a film…in other words, if not handled well, this, being a sensitive topic, has the potential to make people angry and result in extreme agitations in whole India and create unwanted situations for the producers…but PK handled well and even went tax free in certain states…so PK like OMG is such an eye opener for the people that this film needs to be watched…well I doubt OMG was seen by everyone with Paresh Rawal in the lead, so I back PK to release in as many languages as possible…After all this is a family fim with a social message, and whats the use if a part of India gets lagged behind…This film is for India and Amir will definately want every Indian, irrespective of any religion gets to view this movie…

now comming to remakes, am not against this idea but it need to be handles well with good directors at the helm…but not everyone is a Raju Hirani…plus remakes doesnt always provided justification to a product..a good example is Delhi Belly….it failed big time because the director’s vision was different and it never worked with the concept…in other words, that is a much worse example of tempering as compared to dubbed versions… yes there are succesfull remakes but Hirani being an exceptional filmaker needs an exceptional formula to make a PK remake…
finally if uniting India as a single powerfull force is a step the director envisioned, as evident from PK, then releasing in more versions is an essential factor to fulfil their requirement… As PK is that type of a film…
