Aamir Khan is competing with himself in the overseas markets, as his most recent release ‘PK’ has beaten his 2013 release Dhoom 3 and also become the first Indian film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark overseas.
When the film first released during Christmas 2014, it collected $26.32 million (Rs 167.1 crore). Now with the Rajkumar Hirani film getting a wide release in China, it has collected $5.31 million (Rs 33.7 crore) in its first weekend.

The total overseas business now stands at a record-shattering $31.63 million (Rs 200.8 crore). In 2013, Dhoom 3 collected Rs $31.08 million overseas. Aamir also holds the record for the 3rd highest grossing overseas film – $25.9 million gross collections of 3 Idiots! My Name Is Khan ($23.5 million) and Chennai Express ($18.95 million) comes 4th and 5th respectively.
Apart from these 5 films and Happy New Year, no other film has even crossed the 100 crore mark in markets outside India.
Widely known as the ‘Founder of the 100 crore (Ghajini), 200 crore (3 Idiots) and 300 crore club (PK)’ in India, Aamir Khan has now achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first actor to cross Rs 200 crore overseas.
PK could add another 40-45 crore to its overseas total and if it does so, it could be the first film to gross Rs 700 crore worldwide!
