After smashing all previous with each of his last three Christmas releases, Aamir Khan has locked the Christmas 2014 weekend for his next film directed by Rajkumar Hirani – the director of classics like Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots.
Sources say the film could release on 19th December 2014, allowing the film to take advantage of the extended Christmas – New Year holiday season.
Aamir made the announcement on Twitter, without announcing a final date “Hey guys, PK release date is finally locked…. this Christmas…. my lucky date!!! Jai Ho!!!”
Soon after the announcement, there are murmurs within the industry that Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, could be postponed to a later date. There are also reports that Yash Raj Films’ is targeting a December release for Manish Sharma’s Fan starring Shahrukh Khan.
It’ll be interesting to see if any film would go on to clash with PK and Aamir Khan during Christmas.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, PK also stars Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Sushant Singh Rajput and Boman Irani.
Fan could still come and clash with PK. Bombay Velvet better run. It stands no chance.

Good decision by them from the business point of view. No matter if a film is good or not, a holiday season only increases its business.

Would be interesting to see fan and pk clash. Aamir versus srk! That will be fun to witness! But I don’t think clash will happen. Yrf will probably release fan on the republic day of 2015. Eid is already blocked for raees. Let’s see what’s going to happen. And it’s better to choose a different release date for Bombay velvet. It’s a risky film made at a very high budget and if there is a clash on top of that, producers may loose money.

If ‘Bombay velvet’ releases with ‘Pk’ then even Bombay people will prefer PK over it along with the whole world and if ‘FAN’ releases with ‘PK’ then even fans of global star will find it difficult to save it not only in the globe but in every circuit.lol
