Saturday night was special for Bollywood fans in Vancouver. Thousands of Hindi film buffs from the mainland of British Columbia (Canada), and some who travelled all the way from the United States Of America, gathered to catch a glimpse of Bollywood superstars like Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
The TOIFA was co-hosted by Ranbir, Anushka Sharma and Boman Irani, who entertained the Vancouver crowd with their witty one-liners.
Abhishek Bachchan’s performance was up first. The actor, made a typically filmy entrance from the middle of the audience and put up a electrifying performance. The actor dedicated his award (for Bol Bachchan) to his wife Aishwarya.
Katrina, who looked gorgeous in black, grooved to her item song ‘Chikni Chameli’ from Agneepath. Priyanka Chopra entertained the audience in a highly energetic performance.
Soon, it was time for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s first overseas stage performance after the birth of her daughter. The world’s most beautiful woman looked gorgeous in a black free-flowing outfit. She performed to the title track of Dhoom 2 and Khwaja Mere Khawaja from Jodhaa Akbar.
For the grand finale it was Shahrukh Khan, who made a grand entrance with the crowd going berserk. Khan, who had injured his shoulder while shooting for an action sequence for Chennai Express before the opening ceremony of the IPL, thrilled the audience with some of his chartbusters like Challa, Suraj Hua Madham, Chamak Challo and Dard-e-Disco.
The TOIFA Awards 2013 ended with ace-choreographer and event organiser Shaimak Davar inviting all the Bollywood stars on stage.
