Raveena Tandon and Mahima Chowdary were at the Indian Telvision Academy to feliciate the Indian Olympic heroes at Beijing this year. The actresses along with Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff honored boxers Jitender Kumar and Vijender Kumar (who won a bronze medal). Akhil Kumar and Sushil Kumar (wrestler who won bronze) were also honored.
GR8! – India’s premier Television glossy and The Indian Television Academy (ITA) felicitated India’s Olympic heroes from the mofussil town of Bhiwani in Haryana. Shashi Ranjan, Publisher of Gr8! and CEO OF ITA who hails from the same town in Haryana decided to have a felicitation ceremony for boxers Vijender Kumar (bronze medalist), Jitender Kumar, Akhil Kumar & wrestler Sushil Kumar (bronze medalist).
Said Shashi, “These pugilists and wrestler Sushil Kumar have put Bhiwani on the world map with their performances at the recent Olympics in Beijing. Hailing from my hometown in Haryana, I was also a product of Vaish College where these athletes have honed their skills. I decided to invite them over to Mumbai for them to have a chance to interact with the television and entertainment industry based in Mumbai. Furthermore, my father Mr. Rajendra Pradeep was the erstwhile Dean and Principal of the college, which still runs an annual scholarship scheme for sportsmen in my father’s name.”
Added Anu Ranjan, Editor of GR8! Magazine and President of ITA, “Through this felicitation ceremony we wish to encourage future sportsmen in our country to achieve similar dizzying heights in the world arena. Sports and entertainment has always had a close association and we will continue to encourage sportsmen from different fields in their pursuit of excellence.
