Phantom has collected Rs 8.46 crore on its opening day at the box office, which is a decent first day for a film starring Saif Ali Khan in the lead.
The film has performed very well in cities, but at smaller towns business was below the mark. Saturday will be very important for Phantom if it has to do well in the long run. The costs are on the higher side, so the film has to show growth in the range of 30-40% on Saturday, more so because film business does tend to get a boost on Raksha Bandhan.
It’s Saif’s 5th highest opener of all time, after Race 2, Humshakals, Cocktail and Agent Vinod. For Katrina, Phantom is her 7th highest opening after Dhoom 3, Ek Tha Tiger, Bang Bang, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Tees Maar Khan and Raajneeti.
As for Kabir Khan, both his films with Salman Khan (Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan) took outstanding starts at the box office, Phantom comes third, followed by New York.

if any film released in this period is going to flop.but phantom will survive only bcoz of afgan jalebi(katrina).without katrina phantom gonna sure shot flop.if bollywood is same about male and female oriented, then katrina is the top crowdpuller equivalent or more to salman khan.
accept or nt bang bang could nt tagged as even semi hit due to katrina kaif.and same for ce its deepika.but deepika is new so audience liked her ,that nt means she is bigger than katrina .after some time its gonna time for alia.audience like new faces as heroine n old faces as hero.lyk all Girls give their time to new boys n ignore the old lovers.

Watched Phantom yesterday!
It is a must watch for anyone who loves thrillers,it is gripping all throughout and the locations are covered really well,i mean it is shot very well.Action sequences are brilliantly done.
And what I loved was the emotional connect it had,which was’nt muh there in BABY.
But then performances even though Saif does it well,he lacks the physique of an action hero.I would have loved to see Akki/Hrithik here.It is that department here BABY scores more than Phantom.
Katrina as usual spoils all the hardwork of the director,emotional scenes though connect well could have come off even better with a better actress.
Having said that Phantom is one of the best film this and deserves a watch.

These kind of action thrillers needs to work well at the boxoffice,we can’t always be dependent upon same old romcoms to generate business.
