Padmavati Release Date changed: A month before Salman’s Tiger Zinda Hai

Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have decided to stay away from Yash Raj Films’ Tiger Zinda Hai. The decision has finally been made to release the magnum-opus ‘Padmavati’ on November 17 2017, a month before the previously finalised date (15 December 2017).

The much-discussed clash between ‘Padmavati’ and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ has been averted, making way for Salman Khan to get a completely solo ‘competition-free’ release during Christmas next year.

It’s the current form and box office supremacy of the superstar that makes it impossible for anyone to even think of taking him on. Not just in the week of his release, but most banners try to avoid releasing their films a week before and a couple of weeks after the release of his films.

‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ is even bigger because it reunites Salman with his ‘Sultan’ director Ali Abbas Zafar, it’s a sequel to a major blockbuster ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and has the backing of a banner like Yash Raj Films.

‘Padvamati’ is one of the biggest releases of 2017 too. It features Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead. It won’t get the advantage of holidays, but could get a 4 week open run if there are no major releases between ‘Padmavati’ and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’.

It’s a good and sensible decision, during times when most banners seem to be obsessed with festive and holiday weekends for their big films.

  • Finally, better sense prevailed. There is no point in clashing with Salman at this point (not that he cares). But when the investment in “Padmavati” is that high, it doesn’t make sense to clash it with the biggest superstar of the country at the moment.

For all SRK fans, at least this should tell the difference in current standing between Salman & SRK.

  • Wise decision indeed.noone I repeat noone in the industry can clash against the mighty king khan salman.u heard it right salman should be renamed as king khan.

  • When Aamir announced PK on xmas 2014, Anurag Kashyap postponed Bombay Velvet. Now this year SRK postponed Raees and SLB preponed Padmavati. Looks like 2 Khans Ruling on Bollywood SK & AK.

  • All the showering of praise aside…”tiger zinda hai” is the most unimaginative title i have heard in a franchise…tiger didnt even die in the previous movie!!

  • It’s a very good decision and I hope no other will now try to clash with Padmavati… SLB has shown intelligence 2nd time after Bajirao Mastani release only…

  • I think there is nothing wrong in accepting that other actor is bigger star than u. Like most actors are doing right now, Salman also did in his not so successful time. Good decision by slb & team.

  • Ye hue na baat

Ab film hit Ho sakti hai. Good decision slb, if you don’t change the date then film Padmavati will be disaster.
TZH will be biggest blockbuster of the year 2017

  • Akshay’s Toilet-Ek prem katha Should take 2nd October And judwa will Get automatically postponed ? No one Will Try 2 clash with akki now.
Super kool 3,mohnjdro Both Huge flops because of clashing with Akshay movies…!

  • HaHaHaHaHa……Sorry I am trying to control my laugh but impossible right now……Just thinking about Salman Haters……ROFL

  • ok one thing indicine…yesterday when you posted the article about padmavati cast…………….you wrote a line very confidently “we visited the producers of padmavati and confirmed that it will release on 15 dec ,a week before tiger zinda hai”…..you really visited , ya sirf aisehi add kar diya apni taraf se

  • Salman factor……well said indicine… everyone avoid clash n decide not to release a week before or after a week

  • Manufactured their own coffin .

Had it clashed it’d have cashed on some free publicity . Add to that a vacation period as schools colleges remain closed after 2nd-3rd week of Dec .

But now they’ve moved their film to Nov 17 . That is a month after Diwali release, and a month before X-Mas release .

People won’t tolerate Bhansali’s History Lectures this time …!

  • How can this Sallu take Both 2 major festivals…after jai ho He can’t take D Risk 2 release his movies on Non festive Dates..buhahaha

  • Shabash, SLB! I’m excited for Padmavati, and this is a great decision. Why clash for a holiday when you can get a nice solo release?

  • Thats is the power of salman sir ..!
Wise decision take sanjay sir for big budget movie ..!
Now sahaid kapoor will do 1st 100 cr movie best of luck sahaid sir ..!!

  • 17 November ??? Non holiday ??? Yaaarrrrrr Why Salman did it :( he is a biggest star he doesn’t need holidays .. All his movies are 300 cr movies .. But Padmavati need it – bcz of huge budget:( ufffff :(

  • Khan’s films= Holiday release.
Thank god they are living in a hindu majority nation where lots of holiday exists otherwise the trio of khans combines has to make 1 or 2 films in a year and they realesed it on eid and xmas.
