Anees Bazmee’s Welcome Back and Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet were the first two films announced for the Christmas weekend this year. However, earlier this year, the makers of Aamir Khan’s P.K took a late decision to postpone their film from June 6th (Post-IPL) to December 19th (a week before Christmas).
Soon after the announcement, all hell broke lose. Anurag Kashyap was upset and so were the producer-director duo of Firoz Nadiadwala and Anees Bazee. Afterall, you can’t afford to clash with an Aamir Khan film directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Surely not after 3 Idiots, one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian Cinema.
Kashyap preponed his film by a month, from Christmas to November 28th. Anees Bazmee decided not to hurry and pushed his film to early 2015. But soon reports emerged that the makers of Welcome Back have decided to stick to their original release date.
When we tried to find out, a source close to the ‘Welcome Back’ team said “We are in a race against time to complete the film. The final shooting schedule of Welcome Back will begin in August. A few scenes and songs are yet to be shot, after which we move on to post-production.”
When asked if Welcome Back would release along with P.K, the source said “Our producer (Feroz Nadiadwala) wants to release the film on the same date, as there are no dates in January. Christmas would be perfect for our film to release”
Releasing a film against P.K – starring Aamir Khan, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and backed by UTV Motion Pictures – would need elaborate planning, marketing, strategy and good content.
The big question is, if Welcome Back does release during Christmas, can it survive the P.K wave?
Welcome Back stars John Abraham, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Shruti Haasan, Shiney Ahuja and Dimple Kapadia. The film is a sequel to Akshay Kumar’s 2007 blockbuster ‘Welcome’.
P.S: Remember the reports of Action Jackson vs Holiday earlier this year? Action Jackson was supposed to release in the first week of May, was then postponed to June and now will release in November.
And how can I forget the ever classic evergreen JANEMAN vs DON ???? :-D

@Queenshuk Himmatwala budget was 50crs and it made 70 crs..it had a drop of 75% after first week.. thats why its a disaster..
But OUTIMD is a flop as per all the trade websites.. so please learn economics before speaking crap..

but if we look at the flipside..AHAT has got 7.1/10 in IMDB..wherein Ramjaane 5.2/10.. Also AHAT music is played even today, wherein nobody remembers any song from Ramjaane except the title song :D

SOS according to BOI is below 100 crs but JTHJ being an outdated 3hr romantic saga collected 100 crs boyh in terms of BOI and TARAN.
And OUATIMD was a disaster right from its 2nd day both in terms of BUDGET and DISTRIBUTORS RIGHT.

SRK avenged ASHOKAs defeat with CDI vs KAFILA.
KNPH was a shoker for everyone as HR emerged from it…..But you know what immediately after clashing HRs downfall started right from its 2nd film..also in the case of Ajay SOS became hit due to backing of SALMAN and hype and limelight it got from the clash with JTHJ while HIMMATWALA which came after SOS was a disaster.
All who dare to clash with SRK suffer ill fate at that moment or after that while the opposite is true for AAMIR :-D

Huuhhh thank god no one wants to clash with our BHaijaan last time Yaariyaan is set to clash with Jai Ho but our bhaijaan give them enough money to pre-poned. Final result is Yaariyan become super-hit and Jai Ho is become a huge flop.

@ Dark boy rises and Arjun Kapoor, Gadar routed lagan and Welcome routed TZP if you consider box office collections, here we are not discussing whether the film is classic or not we are only considering the box office numbers, and if both welcome back and PK release on same date the result will be just like Jab tak hai jaan and Son of sardar, so please don’t brag about classic movies. Even today if Gadar and lagan are being shown on different tv channels simultaneously most of the people will prefer to watch gadar, same case with Welcome.
