Balaji Motion Pictures’ Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara has crashed on its third day at the box office. We are yet to receive the official figures from Balaji, but looking at the drop in business across all circuits, the figures are likely to be around 10-11 crore on its third day.
The first day business of OUATIM Dobaara (on limited screens) could well be its best day at the ticket window, as the morning/noon shows on Sunday are at places lower than Thursday. The word-of-mouth too is mixed to negative.
- Thursday – 14 crore
- Friday – 12.5 crore
- Saturday – 10-11 crore
- Total – 36.5-37.5 crore
For those interested in the actuals, OUATIMD has collected around 28.6 crore in 3 days (Thursday – 10.5 cr, Friday – 9.6 cr, Saturday – 8.5 cr).
A lot of people here on Indicine and various social networking websites will continue to argue and debate over the figures, but looking at the bigger picture, the fact remains that Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara has failed to live up to the huge expectations that the audience had from the sequel to one of the best films of 2010.
The trade expects a huge crash from Monday, and the film might finish with lifetime business of less than 60 crore. Like Joker last year, it would be unfair to blame Akshay Kumar for the failure of OUATIMD. He wasn’t consulted before the postponement of the release date, he did what he was asked to do as far as the promotions were concerned and with BOSS coming up in less than 2 months, Akki will comeback stronger like he always does.
Verdict: FLOP.

OUATIMD Finishes Underwhelming Weekend
OUATIMD came with huge expectations and despite good numbers on national holiday, film dropped badly from 2nd day onwards. Film failed to jump on Saturday and Sunday was no better.
Today film collected less than “Chennai Express” as per early estimates with 1000 more screens which is unimaginable. Even today film started slowly but natural holiday growth helped it from evening onwards. Film was good only in Central India, Maharashtra and UP but lukewarm elsewhere.
As per early estimate, film should collect 10.25 cr nett on Sunday taking 4 day total to 40 cr nett plus. Film will drop big on Monday and from there it will be all downhill for producers. This will be a huge loss making proposition for makers.
Film will struggle to even reach 65 – 70 cr nett lifetime which is a shame considering huge star cast and promotion.
@sachin11 better luck with Kick and Mental bro… and honestly. As for Akki, his career graph will tell you that he keeps on giving such flops side by side with hits.

Akki could not assume the character of a Don. The only time he came close to being a Don was in Singh is King. Even that Sonu Sood was more believable as a Don. The script was sloppy. I think Boss will do better because it’s an action film which is Akki’s forte

First of all ekta kapoor and the team outimd should never had postponed the movie by one week…this has backfired them very badly….had it opened on eid along with chennai express, it would have done much better….now this is lesson to all the flimmakers and supertars that u should never postponed ur film jus because there is a clash…..
