Rajkumar Hirani, director of successful films Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and 3 Idiots, is not trying to outdo his contemporaries and says his endeavour is to tell good stories.
Currently, he is busy shooting P.K., starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead.
“I don’t think any of us is running a race. I don’t think I am running a race with any other director or his films… I don’t think we are in a race at all,” Hirani told reporters Saturday at the launch of a CD on positive thinking – “Raageshwari Narrates Daily Affirmations by Louise Hay”.
“All of us are saying stories, which are completely different. If we say good stories, if it connects with audiences, all the films will work. So there is no race,” he added.
According to Hirani, there is no formula to make a successful film.
“I don’t think any of us can make a formula. If we could, then every film would work. So the best thing is not to worry about whether your film will work or not. Try and make what will work for you. So my effort is to try and tell a story that works for me, I connect with, and which I believe in,” said the 50-year-old filmmaker.
Because he knows that he’s way ahead all other directors. Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and 3 idiots are masterpieces!

Mr. Hirani is right as he the byfar the best director of current genre and one of the best in bollywood in all time and there is no need to compare him as he have 3 masterpiece with him and no need of boxoffice verdict as masterpieces doesn’t require. @indicine when you talk about superstar you introduce them effectively and when you talking abt director your introduction is lukewarm why? Atleast give a different intro for great directors

Raju sir love your work and honesty- modesty at its best. You right to say you’re not running a race, technically you not but if you were then all other participants would have dropped out along time back. Lol your work can be viewed anytime and still feel like its ‘brand new’…!

Raju hirani should continue making movies with Aamir khan bcoz their combination has the potential to give all time memorable movies to bollywood.
If Peekay becomes All Time Blockbuster and turn to be a classic movie then I would say Raju Hirani is James Cameroon of Bollywood

Srk has done bigblunder by rejecting munnabhai otherwise it could termed as King of the franchises he should regret even saying no to 3 idiots also but any way hirani had strived and achived his own reputation Always inspiring movies
Well he has been consistent at box office with quality but that doesn’t make pk a sure shot blockbuster as being said…as we have seen many big directors failed at bo so wait for the movie to come and then only should we say about it !!!!
