Murder 3 has collected Rs 3.75 crores on it’s opening day at the box office. In comparison, the second Murder film which released in 2011, collected Rs 7.2 crores on it’s opening day.
The occupancy was better at single screens (especially at mass centres), while at multiplexes the first choice this week were last week releases Special 26 and ABCD Anybody Can Dance.
Murder 3 did show some growth in business for the evening and night shows, but for a film released on 1300 screens, the first day figures were below the mark.
On Saturday, the morning shows were dull (slightly lower than Friday at most places). The first two Murder films were blockbusters at the box office, and while the third film is unlikely to be a big hit, the evening / night shows on Saturday and the business on Sunday are crucial for the franchise to continue it’s winning streak.
