‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ is not sustaining as well as it was expected to, during the weekdays. The film was down on Monday and fell further on Tuesday, which isn’t a positive sign as far as the long terms box office prospects of the film are concerned.
After a outstanding first weekend, there was hope that the film would perform well for the next 2-3 weeks. There is a film like ‘Mirzya’ lined up for release this week, but apart from that the next major releases are ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Shivaay’ this month end (Diwali).
The trend suggests, ’MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ will end its first week with business of around 94 crore (all versions). The lifetime total depends on how well it holds on Friday, but it’s unlikely to enter the Top 3 highest grossers of the year – which are Sultan (302 cr), Airlift (129 cr) and Rustom (128 cr).

The movie runtime is a drawback. Few things were shown needlessly. They should have cut down 20-25 minutes from second half. First half was very engaging as lot of new things were revealed about MSD but second half we know everything about it except Priyanka’s chapter. Will finish with 110-117 crs domestic net collections.
140cr will not give this movie superhit status.
budget is 104cr including 45cr dhoni’s official salary. it will be hit @ 130cr & superhit @ 160cr

5. Flukelift- 128 cr.

@Death ranger yes in terms of first 3 days Dangal indeed will do 110 cr. But in life time it will cross 350 cr. And if WOM as good as 3 idiots then 450 cr is also possible. But these things wont go down in to the brain of flopstars fans like you. So worry about when will gobar debut in 140 cr club rather than worrying about the industry’s biggest star Aamir’s movies.
I still feel it will become the second highest grosser of the year.. the collections are very good.. 130cr is definitely on for me.. its on course to be the second highest grosser of the year..

Don’t discount the navratri factor. On weekdays evening and night shows draw the maximum collections and navratri garba has affected those collections in the biggest circuit Mumbai which includes Gujarat. Over the weekend and due to Dussehra holidays the film will pick up again. Will finish week 1 with 95 cr and week 2 with 35 cr, remaining 15 cr. Total 140 cr should be a breeze.
I have no issues with MSD’s uneven word of mouth, but I fail to understand why the audiences are always so selective in their judgement. Why is it that a Salman starrer like Sultan with an equally boring second half continued to run to packed houses into week 2 and 3? Why is it that despite a pathetic trailer, a HNY opens to much higher occupancy than an equally massy BMB or an MSD. Or even among the urban audiences, how’s it that a movies like FAN and TALAASH whose trailers have virtually nothing to write home about open to better occupancy than far more convincing trailers like PIKU, Pink and Drishyam? “Stardom slavery” is ingrained among both, the urban and mass audiences alike (more so among the masses, at least urban audiences give urban movies a chance on word of mouth, eg Neerja, Pink, Kapoor & Sons etc) and is here to stay. Gone are the days of rank new comers and unknown actors like Rishi Kapoor & Amitabh Bachchan delivering mega hits and top annual grossers like Bobby and Zanjeer. Or even a newcomer Salman delivering a mega hit in MPK as late as 1989. Indian audiences seem to be moving in reverse gear as far as star worshipping is concerned!
it will take over for sure.. no worry.. the film is long about three hours plus which makes it difficult but its a well crafted film and is a hit

Well you jerk better remember the release date of RDB and fanaa. Dont you dumb creature remember? They both were record openers and bloclbusters. So shut your 2 rs mouth and dont ask us anything. But your tingu gobar wasted even big festivals like diwali and christmas with epic disasters like blue, action reply and teesra maar khan. Thats his aukaat. Only actor to give flops and disasters on big festivals-floppy gobar. Aukaat me reh. Aamir is light years ahead of and bigger star than your flopstar gobar.
