Most disappointed with the anti-gay judgement: Aamir Khan

The Supreme Court on Wednesday dealt a cruel blow to thousands of homosexual couples, as it held same gender consensual sex as an offence.

In a statement, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan slammed the judgement saying it is violative of basic human rights.

“I am most disappointed with this judgement. It feels very intolerant and violative of basic human rights. It’s a shame”

‘My Brother Nikhil’ director Onir, a gay filmmaker, called it a dark day in the history of judiciary and human rights.

“A dark day in the history of judiciary and human rights in India. I am angry by the Supreme Court ruling on IPC 377.”

Actor-producer John Abraham, who played the character of a cross-dresser in ‘7 Khoon Maaf’, is also disappointed by the judgement.

“India has harboured archaic prejudices once again. The Supreme Court has criminalised homosexuality” John tweeted.

Filmmaker Karan Johar on Twitter poster “#Sec377 is not just a violation of human rights but also makes democracy seem like a mirage in our country….”

“And many people on this democratic platform called TWITTER disgust me…inhuman and insensitive tweets sadden me at the state of regression!”

“For all those who think that this judgement gives them a right to talk about their self appointed machoism…GET A LIFE!!!”

  • I agree with amir. .
According to supreme court judgement, gay sex is illigal and crime. How come? ?
How can u play with one’s urgues, one’s mind? ?it’s their own personal life. .gays sud have their own rights. .in foreign countries, there is no ban. .
Huh. .when will india do a proper judgement by broad mind?

  • allah created adam and eve not adam and evan
for allah sake amir you are muslim you should be ashamed of yourself
for supporting gays and if you re looking for free publicity to your movie shame and disgrace on you twice
u and those who support pro-gay marriage

  • Its a very good decision by the SC..Proud to be an Indian..
I hate those nonsenses who support this anti religious and anti social bad work…

  • Amid khan is made he how could he say that it’s against human rights its by other way round it’s a really sham people are allowing such a shambles acts in their society

  • Amir khan is made how could he make such a shameless statement as this. It’s by other way round the world getting worst day by day by the new laws

  • Y ppl r so frustated coz of sc’s decision
It has given d right judgement..
Celebrities barking here shd hav been dere during d anna hazare movement
N gays.. ?? Do dey actually exist
Its just an illusion.. ppl r fed up of livin d normal life so dey wanna escape from dese conditions.. N call demselves gay
I mean how can a boy gets atttracted to another guy or vice versa.. Totally bullshit. Some r born like dat.. Datz ok wid dem but few ppl actually hav all deir organs doin well den how d hell dey can oppose wot nature has created.

  • @Damnnn.. , i think you should grow up. homosexuality is not something found in recently. it is there since thousands for years. i think you should read some history books, especially about the history of Greece.

  • This verdict is actually disappointing!
@Sakhi : You are unbelievable. I think even Srk is upset with this verdict. So should I say no wonder that peopl call him Srgay?! Grow up!

  • @SAKHI i can understand your frustation.Don’t worry for the 1st time Aamir and his fans r in full support for Srk and his fans in this disappointing judgement.lol

  • @damnnn. We are confused about 2 kinds of mens; gays and bi-sexuals.
Gays are truly attracted to same gendre it’s not their fault, they are like that. They are born like a man but with body structure or something ( dunno what ) thus having different feeling which is diferent from us therefore they genuinely are not attracted towards women.
Whereas bi-sexuals are born like a men and are attracted towards’womens still they chose to have sex with same gendre it’s bcuz of the fault in their mind they are chosing wrong path. They are doing so perhaps they are not satisfied with opposite sex.
It’s wrong and we shud oppose against bi-sexuals not against GAYS.
U thinks that gay’s are having everything that the man shud have then why they going for same gendre?. It’s bcuz they are having diferent feeling from us and the normal straight guys can never understand that.

  • @shakhi:just because amir supported homosexuality,he is gay? ? ?seriously? ?u’re such a narrow minded fellow.
80 % of bollywood celebrities are against of SC’s dicision.even respected personalities like chetan bhagat was disappointed.why? ?are they all gay? ?
Gays, lesbians or bisexuals ,they are also human beings.so respect their relationship.
Srkfans are bashing amir.but if srk supported gays, their response wud have been diff.

  • This is great news. Well done SC. I am proud of the indian culture which respect the God ordained marriage institution between man and a women. Also a similar judgement was passed in Australia recently to ban gay marriage. Seems like theres still some diginity left in this weary world.

  • The comments on this subject are very disappointing. I keep hearing that India is forward thinking, however the comments on here make me think it is going backwards. I am glad that I live in the uk. At least I do not have to come across these narrow minded people. Just because someone stands up for another human beings rights it automatically makes him gay…. Get a life!!!!!!

I like Aamir Khan a lot and after this I respect him even more. I am sure incidence will not post this comment. However, at least I am voicing my opinion.

Also the grammar used by a lot who have posted negative comments, shows that they are not educated people making the comments. They would have to be uneducated to post such hateful and mindless comments. I am sure they do not have much going on in their own lives, so come on here to make such comments. I would never normally post comments, however the subject matter meant that I had to.

  • This is great. Though I am not a Hindu, I still support traditional marriage. It is not unequality if someone has evil temptations. Should murderers be allowed to do what they “love?” Should alcoholics have the right to drive while drunk? I’m not saying that these people are any different from us, though. We are all children of God and we should be respectful to others struggling with unnatural desires. Allowing gay “marriage” would lead to polygamy, incestual “marriage,”and many other moral and natural wrongs. Good job, India, for not fall in like the rest of the secular world.
