Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s latest film ‘Pulimurugan’ has created history by becoming the first Malayalam film to cross the 100 crore mark at the box office.
Made on a budget of Rs 24 crore, ‘Pulimurugan’ released in theatres on the 7th of last month (October). The film collected Rs 4.05 crore at the Kerala box office on its opening day, making it the highest opening day grosser ever for a Malayalam film and the second highest of all time behind Rajnikanth’s Kabali.
The film continued its good run on its second day by collecting Rs 4.03 crore. On the third day, ‘Pulimurugan’ went on to record the highest single-day collections of all-time at the Kerala box office, by collecting Rs 4.83 crore on Sunday.
Since then, the film has sustained well enough to cross the 100 crore mark, including collections from other South states where the film was released.
Pulimurugan First 100 crore film Malayalam
‘Pulimurugan’ has also exceeded expectations at the UAE Box office by collecting nearly 14 crore in its first weekend.
The film revolves around the incidents that occur in the life of Murugan (Mohanlal), a lorry driver who has vengeance against Tiger (Varayan Puli). Murugan lost his parents quite early and loves his brother more than anything else. Even from his young age he has developed extraordinary skills that could aid him in killing tigers that create havoc in the forest settlement known as Puliyoor. He is not a hunter but he kills tiger that attack humans. The story moves into a few challenges that Murugan has to encounter in his life, both from wild animal and wild human beings. How he fights the enemies including tiger forms the crux of the story.

@Gabru,Kerala ia the smallest state among the other southern states.So u can imagine the number of theaters available.And there, no one will book the holidays like bollywood. So there will be 2/3 releases at the same time.And other language films also eating up malayalam movies business.So this is a huge achievement.
2016 is a very boastful year for Mohanlal. His Telugu debut film this year ‘Janatha Garage'(co-starring a Telugu superstar Jr. NTR) has turned out to be the highest grossing telugu film after Baahubali and now he delivers the first 100 cr regional film.
For those who aren’t aware of it, he was the actor who also in the original version of Drishyam and it turned out to be the highest grossing Malayalam film at that time.

@ tiger at least srk films collected 80 crore in bad phase but your bhaijan was struggled to cross 20 crore in his bad phase . London Dreams 20 , Marigold 1 crore , God tussi great ho 15 crore list is so on . Get life looser .

• The movie was shot with real tiger which never happened before in India…Since there is no permission to shoot with real animals the crew went to Vietnam and Thailand to shoot the tiger portions
• Mohanlal aged 56 didnt use any Dupe for the complex action scenes. Please watch the making video as well.
• Movie has broken all the existing records in the history of Malayalam films , Surpassed the record of Mohanlal Movie ‘Drishyam’ which was released in 2013.
Requesting the Non Malayali audience to watch this movie from Theatre itself..As its a Visual treat and wonderful experience
bollywood really needs to catch up, regional films are way ahead in terms of scale and innovative(new) stories eg. enthiran(robot) baahubli and now pulimurugan watched the movie twice its superb

@Vera. Total business is 100 cr. Means including satellite,music & Remake rights (15 cr). Worldwide gross is 90-93 cr.
There is a chance to get 150 cr. Bcz massive collection & never seen before crowd in UAE/GCC. In kerala also collection are unstoppable. Housefull shows even after one month.
And telugu dubbed version “Manyam puli” release in November 25.
Hindi dubbed version may also release.
Movie also became the highest grossing South Indian movie in New Zealand.
Superb collection in all foreign countries & rest of india.

Guys, Mallu industry make quality films with their budget.
There is a movie “iyobinte pusthakam”. Its budget is 12 cr. bt it may make others to think that, its a 50cr + budgeted movie.
Thats the making style in mallu industry.
And for mallu films, majority of collections are made from kerala alone.
Only mohanlal & now dulquer & nivin pauly then Prithviraj movies get collection from rest of india.
Bt now mallu industry is growing.

He has acted with another Multiple Award winner in Bollywood in those 3 films not just 1.
This film released only around 330 screens, and collected 100cr, still its ticket unavailable in kerala, This is the real blockbuster,….
