Aamir Khan is one of the biggest and by far the most respected superstar in the industry. Period. There are a lot of people we know, who do not watch Hindi movies, but only watch Aamir Khan films. When Aamir does a film, it’s expected to be nothing less than a masterpiece. He has carried that burden of delivering a classic each and every time for more than a decade and has incredibly successful. He has been intelligent too. If he does too many off-beat movies like Talaash, he will lose out on his fanbase. So he does one not-so-commercial film like Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, Talaash or the upcoming Dangal and then follows it up with an out-and-out commercial entertainer. Each time he comes on screen, he gives you something different. People come out in big numbers to watch every Aamir Khan film. If this isn’t stardom, fan-following and respect towards his acting and movies, then what is?
@indicine – u sound as if success of PK is majorly because of Raju Hirani. Remember when the film released, Aamir walked away with more credit than Hirani. At the time of 3 Idiots, the credit was equally shared between Aamir and Hirani.
Hirani’s next film is likely to be Sanjay Dutt biopic or Munnabhai 3. Even with 5 open weeks and a major festival and plenty of holidays, it wont break PK’s record, I can promise you.
In India, we are very star struck. If you’re talking about the record being broken in the next 2-3 years, it has to be to be a top khan with festival and atleast two open weeks.
Exceptions are always there though. Nobody expected Bahubali Hindi to cross 100 cr and smash records worldwide which is unreal and unbelievable for a REGIONAL film……so never say never !!!
@Lisa, credit for success of a film should go to the entire team. Hirani is a master writer and director. It’s his films that have delivered the biggest grosser of all time, twice in a row and set the bar very high as far as lifetime records are concerned.
And no, don’t underestimate a Munnabhai film. If it’s as good as the first two films, it’ll smash all-time records in three years time, even without a male superstar.
I guess our complan boys @sssapola,@javed habib, @romanticgadha, @rest of Sarook fraternity would have got their doubts cleared about Aamir’s stardom worldwide after reading Q1 and Q8(Talaash) answers.

You must do your homework… You said Ajay devgn movie don’t guarantee Good openings…Pls check Singham returns record opening figure and also his last almost all movies took double digit opening….As compared to Akshay Kumar…Ajay’s movies had better openings and till now he is the second member to 100 crore club….Also as you criticized Drishyam opening is low….you should understand genre of the movie…its not a kind of movie which can take big opening. Ajay devgn has been more Bankable star with more Blockbuster than Akshay. Don’t be just biased in answering. Be fair
