Kabali has become the most watched film on the first day of its release, as trade sources say more than 50 lakh people watched the film on Friday – about 35-40% of those were from Tamilnadu itself, which is unbelievably huge.
The footfalls are higher than the opening day of pan-India films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sultan and Dhoom 3.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens when ‘Robot 2.0’ releases in theatres next year. Akshay Kumar has a strong following in the core Hindi belt of the country, while Rajnikanth is unmatched in the South. Both appeal to a different section of the audience at the overseas markets. To add to it, films directed by Shankar are hugely commercial and appeal both to the classes and masses.
A casting masterstroke like ‘Robot 2.0’ could put up unimaginable numbers next year.

We all know producers can manipulate box office figures for their films. However, the manipulation has reached its new heights with the release of Kabali. As per the producers, Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali has collected a record Rs 350 crore on its first day.
That figure is complete nonsense as such unbelievable number cannot be made with 4000 screens. Even big budget Hollywood films struggle to achieve that figure. But the producers are even claiming that it was released in 10000 screens. No doubt Kabali is the biggest opener in the history of Indian cinema but 350 cr on 1st day is a bullshit. An actual figure will be around 90 cr.
Here is the official announcement from producers.
“In India, the film has earned Rs 250 crore, which includes Rs 100 crore from Tamil Nadu and Rs 150 crore from places outside the state in India. Kabali was released in approximately 8000-10000 screens all over the world, which includes 480 screens in the US, 490 in Malaysia and above 500 in Gulf countries.
The film has also released in UK, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Denmark, Holland, Sweden, South Africa and Nigeria. It has earned approximately Rs 100 crore worldwide. It is the best collection an Indian actor has ever had. It shows that there is only one superstar and that is Rajinikanth.”

Indicine didn’t include HNY in the list with PRDP, Dhoom 3 & Sultan which means even Indicine know that HNY collection was manipulated that’s why its footfalls were less.
It’s a shame that Salman Khan got lucky again. With competition from Raees and Kabali, Sultan would not even have earned 150 cr in India. Other actors need to be confident and clash with Salman. He has never won a clash in his life and anyone can beat him because most of his movies are without any logic.

Hindi = 800 – 850 screens
Total = 3000 screens
so how did it collect gross 50cr + with tht much screens
mind u 800-850 screens (hindi) out of total only grossed 4-5 crs so it has to grossed arnd 45cr frm 2100-2200 screens . thts just bs
