‘Kaabil’ director Sanjay Gupta fails to clear dues of ‘Jazbaa’

Sanjay Gupta, who will be directing Hrithik Roshan in his upcoming film ‘Kaabil’, has been accused of not paying the dues of his last film ‘Jazbaa’ which marked the return of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

According to a report on a daily newspaper, a few crew members who worked on the film are yet to receive their payment. These include story writer Kamlesh Pandey, screenplay writer Robin Bhatt, choreographer Ahmad Khan, cinematographer Sameer Arya and a few others.

The report states, the due amount was in excess of Rs 20 lakh. Sanjay had assured his crew members that the dues will be cleared once he receives payment from Essel Vision – who were the producers of ‘Jazbaa’.

However, Essel has said the amount has already been transferred to White Feather Films – which is Gupta’s production company. The agreement between Essel and White Feather Films was such that Sanjay was supposed to enter into an agreement with all actors, writers and other technicians and make the payments from the lump sum production cost provided.

Released in theatres on October 9 last year, ‘Jazbaa’ was an average grosser at the domestic box office.
