Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil has collected Rs 10.43 crore on its opening day at the box office, which includes collections from Tamil and Telugu versions. The film under-performed on Day 1 all across the country, with the competing with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees affected business both at single-screens and multiplexes.
Kaabil simply did not have the promos to match upto the might of Raees, which was carrying incredible pre-release buzz.
Moving on to the more positive side of things, Kaabil has shown huge growth in business on Thursday morning. The holiday advantage is usually around 35-40%, but the morning shows on Thursday, ranged from 100 to 500% growth at some places from Wednesday morning.
The occupancy was quite low last morning and there was growth evening onwards, but as per early trends the film should be able to – quite easily – cross the 15 crore mark on Day 2. However, there is the big cricket match in the evening, which should have a small impact on business of both films.
Because of the slow start, the trend over the weekend is going to be extremely important for a film like Kaabil. It has to show big growth today, hold to Day 1 levels tomorrow and then peak on Saturday and Sunday. If that doesn’t happen the film will struggle to recover costs.

Dear indicine, there is one thing which is called trust. We have seen with sultan and dabangg where boxofficeindia.com was publishing figures before official figure and it was somewhere around with minumum deviation or no devitiation which make us believe that they have access to track down box office figure. We know thats not exact but its somehow % correct for sure. With each passing year they have built massive trust from themselves. Its just like for reviews hollywood lover goes for imdb and for box office collection they trust none other than boxofficemojo. Its saddening that even in todays world we dont have official body to regulate box office collection but its heartning that we r relying on official figure blindly. Its gut feeling and insult of intelactual audience that even if they are manupulating figures by 1% knowingly abd intentionally. Being movie site for long its also ur responsibility to do moral policing and give us our right to know real collection. For god shake son of sardar shivay are not 100 crore grosser, we know singham was close so we can give it benefits of doubt. We know happy new year and prem ratan dhan payo are not 200 cr grossers and neither krissh 3 did 244 cr or happy new year 45 cr in opening day. Its respect to us that aamir let us know talassh did 93 for matter of fact it could have been easily manupulated and made us believe that it goes past 100 cr. Movies like masti eek villian all r tempered for that reason.indicine we r not fool we could believe if deviation is up to 5% here and there but deviating beyond that is our insult and being ur consumer we want you to defend us instead of going blindly by producer figure. What you can do is on that case u may do ur research and publish 2 figures one the trade figure that u have researched and the other one is official figure. Will u ever publish that efel tower is in austria?, …..no. lets take some hypothetical example will u say ethiopia is the richest. Ofcourse no. Its insult and being ur bread and butter as ur loyal viewer we want u to advocate us. Publish the secondary datas regarding collection from official and other sources but we want u to publish your own data as well. As being this business of this long and entertaining us for this long we have immense trust for you but sorry same we cannot say about official figures. @Raj, we can confirm that the collections of Kaabil are close to what has been officially declared. The regional versions have collected 30 lakhs, and the Hindi version is closer to the 10 crore mark. This has been verified with several people in the trade. The collections are also higher than Mohenjo Daro across India.
@Raj I agree with you. @indicine should give both trade and producer figure of all movie. I don’t say that indicine shouldnot be trust producer figure but at least they have to show trade figure also. How can we trust on producer figure like Kaabil, krishh 3 and so on. They are clearly manipulated one.

All SRK movies open big so first day clash has to go to Raees but from Thursday onwards the margin will decrease and eventually Sunday or Monday will be Kaabil taking the lead.
Hype can create curiosity which can led to good numbers but once hype comes down it is down to content and that’s when Kaabil would dominate..
For the life of me I cannot understand how can someone choose a film like Raees over Kaabil which is a very moving and touching story but then in today’s world we tend to like evil over good and therefore people will tend to choose violence, alcohol, drugs etc. besides the co star performance was far superior to that of SRK. He overshadowed him by a long mile.
To all “srkians” fuming across with rage with kaabil having seemingly crossed only 7 something crore, I have to ask you to verify your facts first. BOI is a website which consistently posts it’s “estimates” not the actual figures way early into the day. They then almost never correct upon their “estimates” and leave it there and then.
Kaabil made most of its earnings from the evening and night shows and mid way between the two, boi had posted it’s article about kaabil’s collection! How is that possible!?
And think about it logically, if k3 had manipulations north of 50 crore then filmkraft would’ve paid comparitively more taxes! Why would any sane man do such a ludicrous thing!??
Please use some brains and remove trust on websites who claim to be authentic with no actual proof to verify their sources. They have been underreporting all movies since time immemorial. Dangal is also 20-30 crore lesser in their lifetime totals as they didn’t take into account the regional collections!?
So relax and enjoy the success of both movies at their respectable levels instead of hating upon the other one.

I fervently hope that it is not the case of “chaar din ki chaandni phir aandheri raat” for the SRK fans. We have got used it and seen it so many times. With HNY, Dilwale and then Fan, the social media was buzz with “oh!! what a performance!!!” and then it find no takers after couple of days.
All those complaining about the numbers on BOI, can you please clarify the numbers of HNY as there seems a big difference between the trade numbers and official figures from Redchillies.
Btw, I have heard Hrithik in Kaabil and Nawaz in Raees have given their best performances so far.
first thing first that even before the producer figure all websites bollarena indicine and etc were reporting 10 11 cr for kaabil and everybody knows only boi is againt hrithik and you people believe them then you have to believe Chennai express is 207 cr according to them not 226 when you are sensing that WOM will crash raees you people just gonna bark abt calculator @indicine you must write a article abt this that they have to accept srk box coollection of boi as well
According to boi raees Collection excluding Tamil and Telugu versions is in the range of 20.25-20.50 and kaabil’s 7.5-7.75. Can anyone explain me how roshan’s earned those mysteryous 3 crores?)))))
I am sure that Kaabil too is a good film.. but what really surprises me why Rakesh Roshan would release his film with Raees?!! Now if the date for Kaabil was pushed to some other dates, or released before Raees.. am sure that the film would’ve made more than 100 of crores and became a super hit!

Look we have to count on everyone strenghts. Indicine and bollywood hungama are famous for movie news, reviews, interviews, promos and videos related to bollywood while boi is famous for tracking box office collection. We all have to play our strenght and for that matter we should know which is best for what. You cannot mess fmcg with electronics, medicine with paramedics. Well kaabil may be near to the official figure as mentioned by indicine I.e. including regional versions still rakesh roshan has taken such a huge liberty with collections in the past he can not be trusted. In that case I m counting on indicine as its coming from horse mouth. Well answering about paying higher taxes for higher gross its not always about making profit its about keeping your brand alive as well. N for that reason roshans are already in the huge profit zone. Now for brand hrithik it has already taken a toll due to huge mohanjodaro debacle he cannot simply another this quick. To keep his downfall on the bay for a while he may go any extent. watched both movies – Raees is a one time watch. Will watch Kaabil again. Prefer quality over a masala movie.
