John Abraham has replaced Akshay Kumar in “Welcome Back”, a sequel to “Welcome”, and says that the Bollywood Khiladi is “happiest” for him.
In the 2007 hit comedy “Welcome”, Akshay played the main lead.
“Akshay is like my elder brother. Whatever I do, I always have a lot of discussions, especially with him. Akshay is happiest for me when I told him that I am doing ‘Welcome Back’. He said it’s a very good film and you should do it,” the 40-year-old said here Tuesday on the sets of TV show “Bade Acche Lagte Hain” where he was promoting his film “Shootout at Wadala.”
“It’s an outstanding script, kids will love it and I am looking forward to doing it,” he added.
John has reportedly charged Rs.15 crore for “Welcome Back”, but did not confirm the news.
“As far as money is concerned, I don’t talk about money at all as I think it’s not as important. I charge because I think I deserve it. But I give it to charity because I think that’s more important,” John said.
John’s next film is much-talked about real life-based crime thriller “Shootout At Wadala”, in which he is playing gangster Manya Surve who was gunned down in the Mumbai police’s first official encounter. A host of actors like Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee and Mahesh Manjrekar feature in it.
But John misses Kangna Ranaut during the promotions of “Shootout at Wadala”. The actress plays his love interest in the film.
“Kangna will join us for the promotions, but right now she is shooting for some film. I miss Kangna a lot and people may not know that Manya Surve’s romantic track is one of the most beautiful romantic tracks, a tragic love story,” John said.
“Kangna has done an outstanding job. We all are missing her and we hope to see her soon,” added John.
Directed by Sanjay Gupta, “Shootout at Wadala” hits theatres May 3.
John has said that kids will love the Welcome sequel. Of course they will because it has Sunny Leone in it.
John does’nt possess the comic timing that Akshay has.Akshay will be missed very badly but i think the film can work because of the brand “Welcome”.

The film is likely to become a flop. Because of poor comic timing of John(no doubt that John is a hunk and performs action roles effortlessly eg Force, Race 2, SAW etc). Moreover, Nargis Fakhri and Sunny Leone can hardly spell A.C.T.I.N.G.
Akki will be missed badly. No welcome without Akki!
Welcome would’ve been just the same if Akshay Kumar’s role was played by even Jacky Bhagnani… It was a complete Anil Kapoor Nana Paresh Rawal show…For that matter even Mallika sherawat was more prominent than Akshay in Welcome… Aalu le lo…Kaanda le lo…Naa bikha aadha aalu.. And Anil kapoor’s paintings scenes can make you laugh any day anytime…
Welcome is nothing without Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Mallika Sherawat, and Paresh Rawal. Akshay and Katrina were just extras for the songs.

Akshay must have asked for 35- 40 crores. So the producer might have changed Akshay.

@rohit,rgverma, whay the heck are you saying??? Did you watched welcome??? If akshay was not present than film would be nothing. Who would had saved don’s kid and make him happy. Who would have finished nana’s bhaegiri. Who make anil and nana fall in love??? Who would take kitrina’s murder on his own??? Welcome is all about akshay.

I don’t think that it’s a good decision of replacing Akshay with John. Akshay was the major part of Welcome and he’s definitely a better actor than John.

How is this even possible??? Akshay was surely the first choice. I guess “Welcome Back” has really bad script so even Akshay “Khiladi” Kumar dared not to be a part of it!! Yes you read it right be a “part”.

@shekher suman, carear is not over. Makers 1st choice was akshay. Scropt was ready from 2010. But akshay has no dates empty.
And akshay suggested makers to cast john coz he dont have dates.

Akshay has no dates to give to any producer upto december 2014!!!his schedule is tightly packed, thats why just now he’s taken a long break before OUATIM 2. not only this..he’s taken a break from full-time comedy movies and third reason: his fee is higher than any A-listers according to 2012 income tax statements.( source-CNN-IBN).I think i have made everything clear related to the speculation of why john replaces Akshay. and the funniest part is that…Akshay recommended only john’s name to Anees bazmi for this role, as they are thick friends over these years.
