Jai Ho has collected around Rs 17-18 crore at the domestic box office, as per estimates based on collections from a few centres. The film has done well at single-screens, but the response at multiplexes is quite similar to Akshay Kumar’s Boss.
While evening and night shows did witness decent growth in business, the footfalls (number of people who watched the film) at multiplexes was less than 50% of Ek Tha Tiger and even lower than films like Dabangg 2.
Extreme cold in North India also seems to have affected the film, as the occupancy in circuits like East Punjab, Delhi / UP was the lowest for a Salman Khan starrer since Veer.
When the final collections come in, the first day collections of Jai Ho could be around the same level as Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, which sold fewer tickets but collected about the same due to the fantastic response that it got at multiplexes.
The opening day business is way below trade expectations, so the film has pick up tomorrow and on Sunday for it to have any chance of recovering its high costs. The producers of the film have already made huge profits, but if the film doesn’t pick up, the distributors might end up in the red.
On the bright side, the reports from theatres is good, probably the best for a Salman Khan film since Dabangg (2010).

just watched what a great movie.the best movie of salman in recent times.collections is good considering its non-holiday release also with very low ticket rates but due to salman starpower it collect that much.otherwise with any other actor it would not go more than 10cr with flop director,new heroine,flop music.so salman is the biggest superstar.movie will surely pickup huge and should surpass 170cr.

It was expected,i thought it will collect 20cr+ but it failed. Reason is poor trailer and that equally poor songs. If you look the concept of movie than compare it with trailer,you will find the trailer was full of action. Taking stand doesn’t mean you fight with everyone.being an Salman fan this was the poor trailer for me among his last 5-6 films.the selection of director is bad decision. A good concept movie will leave impact major audience only if it scripted,directed and acted well. Examples are RDb,cdi,tzp,3i etc. Mnik was also good one but it is overdramatic so its impact was not comparable to other mentioned.an advice to Salman is to leave Sohail,arbaaz and sajid-wajid in your movies and give chance to better directors,better actors-actress. Leave the friendship separate and do justice with you selection with movies. I will see movies in weekdays because its wom is on positive side.

Jai Ho had a slow start at the box office due to low promotions.
But the 17 crore first day is ONLY due to Salman’s presence.
No holiday release. No top heroine. No great/popular director. No great songs. No tributes.

No other actor can give 17 crore with such a film release.
My Experience:
Since it is an official remake of Telugu Film “Stalin,” you all know about the story of the film more or less. So, I will talk my experience after watching the movie twice on Friday.
A thoroughly entertaining movie!!! Typical Salman Khan Ishtyle. But it has ingredients for both mass and class.
High on emotions! Action scenes are more realistic than those in Bodyguard and Dabangg 2. The motorcycle scene of Jai chasing down the villains is really enjoyable Comic scenes were very good. Daisy is OK. Sana Khan should have been given more screen space. She did her best within given space.
Salman Khan, Tabu, Genelia D’Souza and the Child Artist rocked. Salman Khan lived up to our expectation from him of being a social crusader in the film. I would say, performance wise, it was the third best performance after Tere Naam and Dabangg!! Having said about my experience about the movie, I’d like to say there are always some people who try to pull down every Salman’s effort no matter how good her performs. Therefore, ignore them. If your heart says you want to watch it, then listen to it. No one else.
Through my experience, I recommend you to watch!!!!

@salman fans, stop making rat excuses like ticket prices were low, no big banner, no proper heroine,etc. just accept that the collection was below the mark. And it released on 4500 screens and there’s no competition too. Dhoom 3 is now 7 weeks old. So stop giving lame excuses and accept that your superstars stardom is confined to single screens. Multiplex audience clearly rejected Jai ho. Chennai express, being of the same genre, was overwhelmingly received by both single screens and multiplexes and the overseas audience. But yeah, that was srk, so obviously that was the case. So no records for Salman this year. Let’s see what kick will do. It will probably have better opening than Jai ho because of eid, but let’s see if it will cross ce, last years eid release. I don’t think so, anyone want to bet?

this is a bollywood site…..dont enter into politics………..modi is a gem of india….and think 100 times before writing idiotic things for him….. i predicted 120 crores for jai ho and the movie will finish on the similar lines….. may be below than that…… some people saying WOM is excellent…….get a reality check……. and the so called social message was sidelined in the movie and it drifted towards regular salman movies…..nothing new……. even boring at times……..you get to see a lot of bhoole bisre actors….. no logic in several scenes but it is a salman movie… no need of that… if logic worked here in india….. the collection of DHEDH ISHQIA would have been double of that of yaariyan….and collection of YAARIYAAN would have been half of that of dhedh ishqiya….!!!…..

ek tha tiger had collected 32.56 cr on its 1st day in 2012.& aftr 1 year chennai express has 1st day collection just 33.23 cr in 2013 even much increased ticket prize for Ce…salman k aage sb bkwas hai,,even on working day jai ho collected gud amout as compare to srk’s ra-one & don2 which were holiday releases..n akki once upon a time jaisi hit tagged movie ko flop krwadeta hai toh usko uday chopra se compare kro sallu se nahi.
@avez, ra one and don 2 released in 2500 screens and Jai ho in 4500 screens. Is there any comparison at all? And ce released in 200 more screens than ett though it released a year later. And yeah, ce did 31,29and 33 crores in the first weekend. So don’t compare ce with ett.
