Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ is the biggest box office disappointment of the year so far. The crash on Monday, which was a partial holiday for Raksha Bandhan, has confirmed ‘disaster’ status for the film.
It has collected around 7.15 crore on Monday to take its 4-day total to 52.5 crore. The film is set to end Week 1 with net box office collections of around 61-62 crore and will struggle to collect much after the release of ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ this weekend.
On Tuesday, the collections are down to very low levels. Business is likely to fall below the 4 crore mark, with collection in the 3-3.5 crore range looking more likely. Ticket prices across all multiplexes are now down to week-day rates.
The final distributor’s share of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ will be around 30-32 crore, which is the lowest for a Shah Rukh Khan film since ‘Don: The Chase Begins’ in 2006 – that film released nearly 11 years ago. (Note: Special appearances or Supporting roles in films like Billu, Dear Zindagi etc have not been taken into consideration).
The lifetime collections will only be a little higher than Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’ which released during the same month last year, but that film was involved in a major box office clash with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom, while ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ had a open week at the box office.
With two major superstar films like ‘Tubelight’ and ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ failing after the record-breaking run of ‘Bahubali 2’, all eyes will be on the prolific Akshay Kumar. He has delivered four back-to-back 100 crore grossers and doesn’t have a failure against his name since January last year. The stage is set for him to deliver and if he succeeds this time around, we should see him take the Number 3 spot in the current industry standing.

Indicine has become Salmancine and Akshaycine. They are manipulating verdicts to spread negativity against SRK. Had JHMS released instead of Tubelight on Eid It would have done 250+ crs and one more thing JHMS is ‘Niche’ Rom Com genre still it will be crossing 60 crs and overseas collections will make it as ‘Average’. @Sayar : What are you talking ?? Are you in your sense ? Wake up and face the reality, even Varun Dhawan movies are doing better than SRK and I am not talking about only JHMS. I know you will compare JHMS with Tubelight but look at SRK movies since HNY, as a fan do you really think he is justifying his stature by doing such kind of movies ? Even Raees was not upto the hype it generated by teaser and trailer. I agree there cannot be any other SRK in industry likewise there can never be a Salman or Aamir or Akshay as well. But you need to accept if he continues to play lover boy there wont be any takers including his fans.

Some SRK fans are still living in illusion and hoping he will reign again like in his prime period (mid 90’s to mid 2000’s). The sooner they accept the reality the better. Every thing which peaks have to come down, today it is SRK tomorrow it may be Salman or Aamir but no one can replace these 3 Khans !!!!!!!!!!! SRK should start doing some meaningful and mature roles or stick to character roles, he cant be playing a romantic or lover boy of mid 20’s anymore.

3.JTHJ – same rom com urban touch directed by yash ji , but yash ji could not understand audience demand and supply in 2012 era.
4.ce and dilwale- rohit shetty never directed such a big star.
5.happy new year – multistarer heavily promoted..diwali release.
6.fan – manish sharma never directed such a big star in his career.
7.jhms- imtiyaz ali never directed such a big star.
Now common points- all movies have been promoted heavily.
All above Directors have given good movies with small actors banner and good subject,. But to direct srk they had extra pressure which seen in final box office numberof all above srk movies…
SRK started falling after dharma and Yashraj moved away from him. What is common in his biggest hits DDLJ, DTPH, KKHH, K3G, KHNH, Veer-Zaara, RNBJ. I always said that it was yashraj and dharma productions who mad whatever SRK was till yesterday. Adi chopra and Karan Johar deserve a lot of credit for SRK’s successful movies.
U missed mohabbatei and kabhi alvida, although KANK was a flop in india like ra.one, but our pade media does not dare to call spade a spade..
After that s*it of Tamasha, somehow I expected something bad from Imtiaz. He only good movie is Jab we met, after that only stupid movies, but Tamasha was the worst ! On the other hand, having SRK and Anuskha I had a little hope for some good numbers, but…
Now people will realise how difficult it would’ve been for Ajay Devgn while single handedly making #Shivaay & collecting 85 cr in big clash.

He Himself finish this FILM, There were lots of good dialogues they would have launched.

I don’t know how on earth people are hyping such talentless actor and calling him megastar which he doesn’t deserve to be called considering his last entire decade’s flop career with bunch of disasters back to back. So salman is most overrated media hyped star with 0 talent and no acting. Gawaar illiterate people follow such irritating none actor who can’t even act as good as zayed khan.
Exactly the way you have been following and calling a Dharma/YRF depended chuplu as a ‘Global Star’. BTW, Salman earned the title from fans and not by paid media or CNN/BBC. @Navin no dear. Even alok naath and anupam kher are too much of good looking and sophisticated characters on screen for our dirty dadaji to ape. The best roles for our dadaji to ape would be something like amrish puri or kader khan.
Are these numbers even correct? i went to multiplex monday night show and there were just 3 people sitting and watching the movie.
@Raj the numbers are indeed too much exaggerated. What you saw was still nowhere close to what I saw. The city where I live, I went to watch JHMS and there was no one else except for me. What can we say now. This crap is bigger disaster than Rangoon.

We all saw how those poor so called loyal labors spent his money for almost every films in last decade. Aukaat me reh. It’s about script. I am no srk fan but your gawaar logic doesn’t apply to me. Both srk and salman are overrated by media. Only aamir is true superstar and flag bearer of Indian cinema. The love from his fans is impeccable and no one can come close to him. He has best intelligent audience who always expect something extraordinary and not something crap like illiterate fans of overrated stars. He is undoubtedly biggest star today whether you like it or not.
