Is Eklavya the right choice as official entry to Oscars?
Film Federation of India (FFI) after watching and analysing 10 films has chosen Eklavya as India’s official entry to the Oscars. The final choice was made between Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya and debutante director Bhavna Talwar’s Dharm. Some of the industry insiders disagree with the jury’s decision as they feel many other releases of this year are more deserving. Here are few comments from the prominent class of the film industry:
Vinod Pande who chaired this year’s selection committee said –
“I sincerely feel that Dharm would have got the Oscar for us. Unfortunately, I had to take a collective decision instead of an individual one.”
Anupam Kher –
What! Eklavya is our official entry to the Oscars this year? I don’t believe this. The whole system of determining the film is faulty. Chak De India should have been sent.
Sajid Khan –
There is no soul and only pure gloss in Eklavya. I don’t think it will be accepted by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science.
