My Name Is Khan Is Biggest Grosser Overseas
My Name Is Khan has become the biggest Hindi film in the Overseas markets. It also must be noted that the film has had around 75 more prints in circulation than any other film till date. This figure will be around 200 more prints when it releases in Germany, Poland and Turkey in May. The business from various regions is as follows.
UK/Europe -$4.2 million
N America/Caribbean – $4.05 million
Middle East – $3.75 million
Far East – $1.75 million
Australia/Pacific – $1.2 million
Africa/Mauritius – $750,000
Pakistan/Sri Lanka – $700,000
TOTAL – $16.40 million (73.50 crore)
My Name Is Khan has crossed the $15.50 million figure of Three idiots to become the highest grosser overseas but Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is still regarded as the biggest hit Overseas as that film grossed a huge $8 million in 2001 and the market then was half of what it is now. My Name Is Khan may finish at around $17.5 million after its 100 print plus release in Europe in May.
(india 73.00 Crore + Overseas 73.50 crore)=Total 146.50 Crore
i hope it turns out to be a big blockbuster and entertainer like singh is king and welcome
Akshay Kumar Films and release dates:
1. Housefull – April 30 2010
2. Khatta Meetha – June 2010
3. Action Replayy – Aug 2010
4. Patiala House – Nov 2010
5. Tees Maar Khan – Dec 24 2010
Some of the recent commentry on Akshay Kumar highlights his average 2009 in which he did not give any Big Hits for which he is known. But all this is going to change in 2010.
[1] He is definitely bigger now than he was in April 2007. He is going to repeat his 2007 success in 2010. All this ranking is going to shuffle as Akshay will storm into a clear Top 3 and in many media dialog even in Top 2.
[2] Akshay is a unique case where thories of age, stardom within a certain age, etc doesn’t work because of his sheer volume of work.
[3] Likes of many here were surprised to see Media making a king out of Akshay after SIK. That’s when they started acknowledging his stardom and at the same time undermining his superhits. Earlier he was not even considered a star in their scheme of things.
[4] Akshay and Aamir has thrown bucket of water into Hrithik’s path to glory. They were never expected to rise in the first place. The fact is that they have done the unthinkable, esp Aamir.
[5] Akshay in all probability is going to have a fantastic 2010 and media is going to lap him once again. If you do not believe me then wait. This is my prediction.
[6] Aamir will remain No 1 for some more time to come.
[7] SRK needs to come up with Don 2 before Ra-1 or soon after it. His Ra-1 is like Akshay’s Patiala House…looks difficult to succeed. He neds a very good lineup now. One cannot rest on glory of past. In all these discussion, fans of SRK invariably goes into 90s because they know that in present times, SRK is Not No 1. They have become history teachers now. I am amused at new terms like Aamir of 90s and SRK of 90s. This shows their nervousness. Folks, live in present times.
[8] Salman, Saif and Abhishek are evergreen stars. they will remain where they are.
[9] Ranbir is going to rock. He is the new force and his success is coming faster than many expected. He needs one blockbuster for media and fans to propell him into top 3.
[10] Akshay is going to give one blockbuster and two superhits/clean hits this year.
I agree with Sudeep, King akshay will rock in 2010
