Dharma Productions’ Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was the first choice at multiplexes this week too as it collected Rs 13.7 crore in its second weekend. The Varun Dhawan starrer has now collected a huge 67 crore in 10 days and should finish with lifetime business of around 80 crore.
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania will be Varun Dhawan’s biggest grosser this week ahead of his debut film ‘Student Of The Year’, but will finish as Alia Bhatt’s second highest grosser behind ‘2 States’ which collected more than 100 crore at the box office.
The release of Kick this week would mean that Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania will be running on very few shows at multiplexes this weekend onwards. But the film has already done well enough, exceeding all trade expectations, to earn ‘Super Hit’ status.
The three biggest hits of the year now belong to stars who are just 2 or 3 films old in the industry. 2 States is the biggest hit followed by Ek Villain and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Although both Jai Ho and Holiday grossed more, the costs were also much higher.

I watched Humpty Sharma 2 days ago…and it was just an average or may be above avg affair at the best….
Don’t know what happens to indicine while reviewing a Dharma film,these films get 4 stars with such an ease!!!
Only performances were good from Varun and his 2 friends,Alia and Ashutosh Rana …
It should not be even compared to DDLJ or Jab We Met…those are classics.

Salman Khan in an interview has admitted that Jai Ho is a 126crs FLOP….
In a recent interview with Koimoi, Salman revealed what he thinks was the reason why Jai Ho did not live up to what was expected of it. He said, “Most films of the masala genre have a good buzz around it. Jai Ho was a serious film. A certain amount of seriousness is inherent in such films. People liked Run but kids got really scared of it. We eventually make films for kids. When you make a film from your last film, the next has to be larger. In the lot larger, sometimes it is convincing and at other times you go overboard. “
Salman explained further, “What happened with Dabangg was either he could take over a whole village. So you make a slightly realistic film where the hero is a trained man but he also gets hurt. He also falls and doesn’t have the energy to get up. If you see Jai Ho on television, it is the most amazing film. You are sitting at home and family feel, help three people message and everything clicks. But the music of the film which we thought was great did not do well. Kick doesn’t have that problem. The vital problem was the January release when December has had a massive release, school start etc. It takes atleast a month to go back to the theaters. The ticket prices for Jai Ho was just 250 rupees while all films of that budget sold tickets for 450-950 rupees. Our ticket prices we kept 250 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and lower on weekdays which I think was a big mistake.”
Though Salman still stands by his judgement, it wasn’t a feasible idea from a business perspective added the actor. He said, “We did it for our fans and completely stand by it.
“But Jai Ho was a 126 crores ka flop, which is fine.”

Poor Salman still looking for Holidays for Releasing movies. He cleverly and cheaply booked 2 years holiday periods to block the roads for others. But others without Holidays giving Super Hit but our Bhai failed to deliver even a Hit during Januray released on holiday.
