Hrithik ‘disabled’ in Bhansali’s next!

For the most challenging and physically demanding roles, most Bollywood directors would either go to Aamir or Hrithik. The two ‘perfectionists’ of Bollywood are known to put their heart, soul and bodies into every role they portray.

When Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached Hrithik with one such role, the superstar was game for more challenges. In Guzaarish, Hrithik plays a paraplegic patient (person who is paralyzed below the waist).

Says a source from Mid-Day, a local daily “Hrithik (Roshan) plays Ethan, a radio show host. Aishwarya (Rai Bachchan) plays a married nurse who is also Ethan’s caregiver. The film also deals with the controversial subject of mercy killing (euthanasia). Aishwarya’s character is interesting because she plays a married woman who gets attracted to Hrithik as the second half progresses. The film has dark tones throughout. The film will totally change Hrithik’s image in the eyes of his audience. He is researching for the character and has had several meetings with Bhansali after the narration.”

Mercy Killing, paraplegic patient…! Sounds very interesting and extremely challenging. It will be one heck of a test for both Hrithik and Bhansali. If they do carry it off, most awards will be swept. If not, it could be a epic disaster like the director’s last.
