Hrithik Roshan has finally rejected to play the lead in Zoya Akhtar’s Kismet Talkies. Well the reason behind the superstar’s decision has nothing to do with Zoya Akhtar, but her brother Farhan Akhtar. Typical example of a childhood friendship gone sour.
We recently told you about Hrithik Roshan keeping Zoya Akhtar on tenterhooks for her debut film Kismet Talkies and finally rejected the offer. As it seems now, the apparent ungentlemanly behaviour did after all have a reason. And if rumours are to be believed, it has everything to do with Zoya’s brother Farhan Akhtar.
The story goes that childhood pals Farhan and Hrithik found themselves at a crossroads during the making of Dil Chahta Hai. Farhan who was preparing for his debut film had promised to cast Hrithik alongside Aamir and Saif Ali Khan.
But then at the nth moment he cast Akshaye Khanna in a role that earned him a lot of critical praise. Needless to say, Hrithik was very disappointed but didn’t say a word. Farhan eventually made it up to the actor by casting him in Lakshya. However, the scars were to deepen because of Farhan’s next venture, Don.
It seems during the film’s initial phases, Farhan and Hrithik would discuss the film’s screenplay for hours. But when the final draft of the film was about to be complete, Farhan had an epiphany. He needed an older actor.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh, for reasons known to all, wanted to step into the Big B’s shoes. So he approached Farhan to play the lead role. Now, the director was in a fix. And yet again he chose another actor over his old pal.
Then when he was producing Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Farhan approached Hrithik for a cameo. Now it was the star’s turn to hit back. And he did. After making him wait for four long months, he turned down the cameo – which was eventually done by Arjun Rampal.
Now, when Zoya is all set to make her directorial debut, Hrithik remains unforgiving. He has kept Zoya waiting endlessly. And finally he turned her down. Hrithik’s Jodhaa Akbar is up for release. And it doesn’t seem like he is in any mood to go back to people who have hurt and disappointed him on more than one occasion.
