Housefull 3 has started well on Day 2 at the box office, as the morning shows at major centres (including metro cities) was better than Friday morning.
Until around 6PM on Friday (read our update), the first day box office collections of the film was looking like it would finish at around the 13-14 crore mark (which would have been really poor) – but the evening / night shows at multiplexes picked up quite significantly towards the end of the day.
The first day total of Rs 15.21 crore is still about 15-20% below trade expectations – but the late evening growth suggests that the word-of-mouth is positive and the film has plenty of potential to show growth on Saturday and Sunday.
On Day 2, Housefull 3 has started on a positive note. It’ll be evening onwards that’ll hold the key yet again, as multiplex business peaks on Saturday night. Sunday will be equally important as the family audience (who made the first two Housefull films a hit) are likely to come out in big numbers to watch the film.
While Akshay Kumar has yet again failed to give a ‘excellent’ opening that matches expectations, an opening that would ensure safety on the opening day itself – more so with the added advantage of a popular franchise and favourable Post IPL release – it’ll yet again be the content that has to carry the film to safety.
IndicineFBO: We expected Housefull 3 to collect Rs 17.4 crore on Day 1 at the box office, a number that was expected out of the film given the fact that it was one of the year’s biggest releases (3700 screens). The film has collected Rs 15.21 crore. The difference between our prediction and the actual collection is 12% (15% is the limit), making it a ‘accurate’ prediction – even though we expect the difference to be less than 10% for big films.

Very very disappointing numbers. I don’t think it will sustain well during weekdays. My lifetime prediction is 80-90 cr.

– those two quotes from a reputed website like indicine could make everyone easily believe that superstar Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 3 opening day might be huge but Alas, the opening day is same as wb (non bankable lead male film)..
Btw, those official numbers are really disappointing considering the fact that Housefull 3 is a huge successful franchise. I’m really gutted.

15.21 cr on 3700 screens is not great,its at best average collections,the problem with akshay Kumar films is that they are not opening well,House full is a successful franchise and with so many screens it should have opened to at least 20 cr that to after post IPL period considered to be a good period to release film,even his critically and commercially acclaimed film airlift opened poorly and relied on wom,akshay has eroded his fan base by doing nonsense silly movies like khiladi420,houseful,gabbar is back,Singh is being etc,even his good film baby flopped miserably,its time for introspection

With a strong and popular franchise and a big star like Akshay in it, 15.4 cr is definitely below expectations. Should have been around 18 cr at least.
Still it should cross 50 cr at least over the weekend and then as always Monday will be crucial.

With all due respect for Akshay, this is for those fanatics, who didn’t leave a single chance to defame and criticize SRK after FAN.
No this is not done. An opening of 15.21 cr is quite low for such a successful franchise and starring one of the top star (if you say so) of industry.
Also, the genre and release period too, was favorable and it was not facing any major competition.
It should have crossed 20 cr in worst case scenario considering the positive factors associated with it.
Anyway, the bottom line of the discussion is, stop comparing with your favorites with Khans if one or two of their(Khan’s) movies fail.
Not sure what will be the scenario 5 years down the line, but as of now, they are the biggest crowd puller and opening of their movies (irrespective of holidays or non-holidays) proves the same.

& -15% will go to 14.8cr……….So the difference is 5.2cr which is Huge……….
Example: If you Predict Sultan’S FBO 33cr & for 15% the upper & lower Range will be between 37.95 & 28.05 cr………. Which is a Difference of 10cr………..& you will call it Accurate Prediction………..So to say but it’s a Cheap Strategy to show your FBO Accurate….
I think For Big Releases you should Stick to 10% not 15%
