Housefull 3 has started well on Day 2 at the box office, as the morning shows at major centres (including metro cities) was better than Friday morning.
Until around 6PM on Friday (read our update), the first day box office collections of the film was looking like it would finish at around the 13-14 crore mark (which would have been really poor) – but the evening / night shows at multiplexes picked up quite significantly towards the end of the day.
The first day total of Rs 15.21 crore is still about 15-20% below trade expectations – but the late evening growth suggests that the word-of-mouth is positive and the film has plenty of potential to show growth on Saturday and Sunday.
On Day 2, Housefull 3 has started on a positive note. It’ll be evening onwards that’ll hold the key yet again, as multiplex business peaks on Saturday night. Sunday will be equally important as the family audience (who made the first two Housefull films a hit) are likely to come out in big numbers to watch the film.
While Akshay Kumar has yet again failed to give a ‘excellent’ opening that matches expectations, an opening that would ensure safety on the opening day itself – more so with the added advantage of a popular franchise and favourable Post IPL release – it’ll yet again be the content that has to carry the film to safety.
IndicineFBO: We expected Housefull 3 to collect Rs 17.4 crore on Day 1 at the box office, a number that was expected out of the film given the fact that it was one of the year’s biggest releases (3700 screens). The film has collected Rs 15.21 crore. The difference between our prediction and the actual collection is 12% (15% is the limit), making it a ‘accurate’ prediction – even though we expect the difference to be less than 10% for big films.

Expecting 17cr Today with 15-20% jump & 20cr On Sunday. Usually after big opening films tends to show drop on Saturday but Housefull 3 is witnessing a good jump means WOM is positive. So good hold on Monday is certain.
I think the pre release negativity hurt it big time also considering the fact that the trailer and music didn’t got a good response.
I still find so many people who think Hf3 is directed by Sajid Khan.
And drawing comparisons with his humshakals on social media and making jokes out of it.
But at last,it is the audience which has given it a big thumbs up as they found it thoroughly entertaining film.

15 cr is very good opening for an Akshay movie-Ok it had advantages of Franchise,Post IPL,Mass friendly Genre,wide release but thi tou akshay ki na-Akki is brilliant actor & best in comedy but he is surely not the one who can insure big initials these days-

The problem of these films is that there isn’t any major reason to watch it in cinemas, so most people wait 4 it to come on tv or watch on their laptops or smartphones…

@Honest Thought, 17 Saturday 19 Sunday would be a very good trend for the weekend. If WOM is really good, Sunday has the potential to touch 20. It’s a 3700 screen release after all.
Also, the year which actually had the biggest post ipl grosser is the one in which Salman didn’t have an eid release, so masses might be saving up 4 Sultan as it is shaping up neatly…But what people need to realise is that just watching 1-2 movies and pirating the rest, really hurts the industry…And a movie like Sultan which will no doubt be a profitable film doesn’t need as much support as minor movies…

Something is wrong with Akshay kumar’s star power…he is time and again failing to live up to expectations…it’s high time he stops doing 4 films per year and starts reviewing himself… films like Ram leela,gunday,welcone back and ABCD 2 have opened around 14-16 crore mark which itself shows the sorry state of affairs of Houseful 3.
