Yash Raj Films have released the poster of their upcoming biggie Dhoom 3, and with that the production house has also revealed the release date – the Aamir Khan starrer hits theatres during Christmas 2013!
With Yashraj officially announcing the date, all the ‘holiday’ / ‘festival’ slots for 2013 are blocked by major releases.

- Christmas 2013 – Dhoom 3 (Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra)
In 2012, every holiday / festival release has crossed the 100 crore mark - Agneepath (Republic Day), Ek Tha Tiger (EID), Rowdy Rathore (Post-IPL), Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar (Diwali) have all gone on to be huge grossers. With 65 crores in 3 days, Dabangg 2 is also likely to join the club this week.
No surprise then that the lucrative holiday period has already been taken, almost a year in advance!
Ironically, two superstars Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan are left with no holidays. In the last 3 years, Salman has always ensured that he arrives with an action film during EID. However, in 2013, Balaji Motion Pictures have announced their plans to release their ambitious sequel ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again’ on August 8th. Will there be a clash? If Salman announces his film for EID, will Balaji back out?

salman surely comes on eid. he owns it. it is eid which revive his career if any other film also annouces earlier then there r no offence. let’s have a clash though being a salman fan i am not a biggest fan of his recent movies. ouatim 2 will be good quality wise but truly it will be unstoppable to salman even if he comes with a movie as bad as dabang cz i don’t like it and that too with a break of almost 7 months. so it will be impossible to stop single screens hoverings and a good movie like ouatim2 suffers same the way janeeman suffers when released with don. hope for the best for both.

So what Amir khan was lauched by his uncle Nasir hussein and even produced and directed Amir khan`s 5-6 films in row to help Amir at the end of the day it doesn’t matter coz fans don’t go and watch movies coz x has directed. Yash chopra tried hard to make uday chopra successful actor by lauching his son and producing 6-7 movies but he failed coz at the end of the day audience make actors succesful not papa or uncles or directors. Choti Eid weekend is taken but am I right in thinking that Badi Eid (October) is still open? Also, there is Independence day weekend still free so there are still windows of opportunity for those actors without confirmed dates.
Secondly, this bickering between different groups of fans is childish, it’s like being in the school playground again, “my dad is stronger than yours”, “no, my dad can beat your dad up”. Grow up, they’re just entertainers, not gods.
Salman is undoubtedly the biggest box office star in India at the minute but only for the last 2 years. Srk has been the most consistent and well known Indian actor internationally for 2 decades now and his overseas record is unmatched, he is in a league of his own abroard. His fanbase isn’t as big as others in India hence his films top out in the 120cr range but he could get bigger numbers in future if he has a film with good word of mouth and a family friendly theme. His last 4 films will have grossed over 800 cr plus between them around the world. He is still one of the few major forces in India despite what his haters say.
Aamir is a pioneer. First man to 100cr and the only man to pass 200cr till now. He is always capable of repeating these numbers in future and is widely respects by film goers and peers. Hrithik is young and hot on the heels of the khans. He already has big grossing films and with his looks and ability, will only get bigger. He is arguably the srk of his generation.
Ajay and Akshay are not as consistent as the above mentioned but still big enough to produce big grossers. However, if either of these two decide to release a film on the same date as the above 4, they will more than likely lose out, as proved this Diwali.
There are other actors out there waiting to take the place of the old brigade, Ranbir is the best of the rest with the jury still out on imran khan. Emraan hashmi is underated too producing good numbers with lower budget films.
But the truth is, the Market is ever expanding and big enough and to accommodate everyone. And the biggest star title will always change hands as it has done in the last 10 years. It has been passed from sunny to srk to hrirhik to srk to akshay to aamir to salman. And it will carry on so.
Oh yeah and to the guys who mentioned the word “craps”, the plural of crap is still crap. Craps is a type of casino game.
