Released in both 2D and 3D, Haunted has opened to a decent response at the box office on Friday. Although both the Hindi releases – Haunted and Luv Ka The End – clearly lagged behind the Hollywood release, Fast Five.
The 3D version of Haunted performed better, especially in metros. Morning shows were dull – 10 – 20% which was expected due to the low pre-release hype and lack of stars, the film picked up during the afternoon, evening shows. Late evening and night shows witnessed occupancy of 70%.
The 2D version however performed poorly, the average collections throughout the day was around 20 – 30%.
While the word-of-mouth is mixed, Saturday – Sunday will be the key. If the film picks up, Haunted released in 3 versions – Hindi, Telugu and Tamil – could recover the investment of distributors Reliance Entertainment, who have given the film a wide release.
Stay tuned for more on the Haunted 3D box office.
The other release Luv Ka The End was poor. More on that soon..
