Hari Puttar Movie Review

Hari Puttar ReviewHari Puttar directed by Lucky Kohli and Rajesh Bajaj stars Zain Khan, Swini Khara, Jackie Shroff, Sarika, Saurabh Shukla and Vijay Raaz.

The story of Hari Puttar is similar to Home Alone 1. Just that in the Hindi remake, the lead kid has his cousin sis for company while he outwits the goons! Hari Pradad Dhoonda (Zain Khan) also known as Hari Puttar is a bright young kiddo who has recently moved from his hometown in India to UK along with his parents (Zahir Khan, Sarika). Soon the family leave on a holiday. Hari Puttar and his cousin sister Tuk Tuk (Swini Khara) stay back and confront two villians (Saurabh Shukla, Vijay Raaz)

Hari Puttar Review

Another Short Review as a movie like Hari Puttar doesnt deserve a detailed one. The lawsuit, eventually rejected by an Indian court, was over the title as Warner Bros felt it sounded too similar to their popular series based on J.K. Rowling’s legendary Harry Potter. But I guess the makers of Home Alone would have had better chance, as the makers of Hari Puttar have been heavily inspired by the classic Home Alone. But its such an uninspiring remake filled with pathetic songs, slapstick comedy, bad direction… its hard to sit through such crap. Even kids of today’s time will hardly be pleased with such over the top comedy.

Zain Khan portraying the title role, does reasonalbly well although he falters badly in a few scenes. Dont except a Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone like performance, he aint even close! Swini Khara, the Cheeni Kum girl known mostly for her scenes in the movie with Amitabh Bachchan was surprisingly not upto the mark. Sarika surprises too with a bad performance. Jackie Shroff should retire now, he is well past his prime. The two crazy villians, in the weirdest of costumes, ham endlessly.

If you must, watch this on a rented DVD. Else just skip it! Kids definetely deserve much better than a crappy Home Alone hindi remake that tries hard to put you to sleep several times in those 90 odd mins!

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆

P.S – Buy the classic Home Alone series DVD and spend some quality fun time with your family than watching this pathetic hindi remake.

Other notes – Sanjay Dutt, Imraan Khan and Minissha Lamba’s action thriller Kidnap releases next week. The movie is directed by the director of the Dhoom series Sanjay Gadhvi.

Drona which has been in the making for a long time now starring Abhishek Bachcha, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon and Jaya Bachchan (Special appearance) releases with Kidnap. Directed by Goldie Behl (Sonali Bendre’s husband) the movie is filled with special effects and is made at a budget of more than 50 crores! Watch out for the reviews.

Its way over him now! If they wanted to copy Hollywood then atleast do it properly! Not like this!! Hehe!! The kids are cute! But they are not Macaulay Culkin!
