Gunday has collected Rs 43.93 crore in its first weekend at the box office. The film opened very well on Friday and benefitted from the Valentine’s Day celebrations. Saturday witnessed a 20% drop in business . On Sunday, the film picked up again, but business was about 7% lower than Friday.
Overall, considering the star cast of the film, Gunday had a good first weekend at the box office.
First Weekend Box Office Collections
- Friday – 16.12 crore
- Saturday – 12.63 crore (22% drop)
- Sunday – 15.18 crore
- First weekend – 43.93 crore
Monday update: Morning shows were about 25% of Friday, but the film has picked up in the noon. The drop is likely to be more than 50% from Friday. We expect the 4th day total to be around the 6-7 crore mark. This page will be updated with early estimates by around 12:30AM. Stay tuned!

While I stepped out of the cinema hall after watching Gunday I was in a state of conflict. My mind wanted to scream out loud and say this is one of YRF’s worst films but my heart kept reminding me of my love for this banner. I couldn’t even write a review the same night. But while I was sleeping last night the characters of Gunday appeared in my dream and here is what they had to tell me.
Ranveer Singh
Hi. I am Ranveer aka Bikram. My sole purpose in life is to do roles where I get to show off my bronzed male cleavage. I think I look very hot and I certainly don’t care if the audience finds recurring images of my well-oiled waxed torso repulsive. In Gunday I play a bad man with a heart of gold. I have done a decent job with my limited acting talent and loved flaring up nostrils in scenes where I am supposed to express anger. I am also on my way to setting a new record of dying in films. This is my third film in a row where I die towards the end. Maybe my next film would be ‘hatke’ – I will survive.
Arjun Kapoor
Hi I am Arjun aka Bala. I have delivered a jhakaas performance in Gunday. I am a baddie with a garam dimaag. You all know how I was an overweight child who lost tots of weight so my gym fit body will be shown at every opportunity I get. This is my third film with YRF and I think these guys hate me. In all my films with YRF so far I am been unlucky with love and don’t land up with a girl at the end of the film starting from Ishaqzaade to Aurangzeb and now this film Gunday. I am good at action scenes and I can dance well too but it’s time I do a full on romantic film or else I will seem repetitive.

Hi I am PeeCee aka Nandita Sengupta. I am so exaatic. I am haatter than the traapic. I loved my role in Gunday. I am a cabaret dancer who dances on moves clearly inspired by the Hollywood musical Chicago. I am so exaatic. I am haater than the traapic. My stylist was high on substance when he designed my look in this film. My clothes would give a feeling I belong to the 70s but the fact is I am shown dancing on a song from the 1987 hit film Mr. India and clearly no one dressed the way I did during this period. But who cares. This is a Hindi film!! And yes I am so exaatic. I am haater than the traapic.

Hi I am Irrfan aka ACP Sarkar. I am the sole sane character in this film. My presence is credited as a ‘Special Appearance’ and I still haven’t figured out why. Maybe the producers thought I have a done them a special favor by starring in a no brainer film. But then ever since my television days and those days of selling Vodafone ka chota pack I have always wanted to look dapper, dress impeccably and be part of an YRF film. So yay! Here I am chasing bad guys.

I was responsible for Mere Brother ki Dulhan and once again I prove my limited skills with Gunday. I would like you to believe Gunday is a tribute to Manmohan Desai kind of cinema but you are free to make your own conclusions.

I used to be Calcutta back then but don’t judge me on the basis of this film. If you watch this film you’d probably think the city is built around a 2 km radius of Howrah Bridge. This iconic landmark keeps popping out in Gunday. My residents are shown loudly dressed and certainly more interested in Hindi music than Bangla sangeet. Hence despite set in the 70s or 80s you will hear only Hindi songs in the background. The real Calcutta was visible in films like Kahani. Here I look probably like your Facebook profile picture – sexy but unreal.
My final verdict – If I must compare it to other period films then it’s better than Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara but nothing when compared to a Lootera or a Barfi. If you are planning to watch Gunday please leave your brains outside and go with no expectations.
flop.now once again its clear and proof salman is the biggest superstar who not need any advantage to cross 100cr his name is enough.even aamir was not cross 100cr last yea with talaash also favour of high critics rating that to after break of 3years and after history success of three idiots where as srk needs big director,big banner,big heroine,big holiday,superhit music,also huge brand to collect 100c.where as salman does not need any advantage also with huge neagtivity as seen with jai ho.he is able to cross 100cr.hatsoff to u bhai.
Watched the movie today and loved it. Story was good except that the climax was too dragging. Though it is basically a typical hindi movie, the originality of the movie was the fact that I liked about it. No cheap masala jokes. Music was excellent.
BTW indicine, looking at the morning trend what wouod you think about the fate of the movie? What would be the verdict and how’s the word of mouth?

i am srk fan,and i think all indian actors including srk are not perfect in each of their movies.
i need an indian actor as goog as leonardo dicaprio who shows his versatility and amazing talent in each of his movies..
