Grand Masti has collected around 12.5 crore on its opening day at the box office. The response was fantastic for the morning shows, but unlike a few other sex comedies like Kya Super Kool Hai Hum, Grand Masti was surprisingly steady for the evening and night shows.
Its by far the biggest opening for a medium budget film this year, as only films like Chennai Express (holiday release), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Race 2 (holiday) did better business.
The weekend business of the Vivek Oberoi – Ritesh Deshmukh – Aftab Shivdasani could well be in the 38-40 crore range if the film doesn’t fall on Saturday.
The first day business of Grand Masti is higher than the lifetime collections of most Vivek Oberoi films like Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story, Kismet Love Paisa Dilli and many more. The actor is set for a ‘grand’ 2013 as his next release is the keenly-awaited Krrish 3 which releases this Diwali.
