Gori Tere Pyaar Mein has opened to an average response at the box office on Friday morning. The film has taken a decent start in few parts of the country, especially at up-market multiplexes in cities where the opening was around 35-40%.
The start is around the same level as Imran and Kareena’s last release Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, which collected Rs 5 crore on its opening day.
Advance booking for the evening shows is pretty good at select multiplexes in cities, so business might pick up towards the end of the day.
North India business was affected by the release of Sunny Deol’s Singh Saab The Great, while Ram Leela continued its steady run in the Mumbai and Mysore circuits.
In the overseas markets, there are reports that Gori Tere Pyaar Mein has opened well in U.A.E. Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu fared very well in the international market with business of around $3.9 million (Rs 21 crore). It remains to be seen if GTPM can match its success, as films released under the ‘Dharma Productions’ banner usually tend to open very well.
