‘A Gentleman’ did the unthinkable at the box office on Friday. The film collected just 4 crore, which falls at the level of much smaller films like ‘Phillauri’ and ‘Begum Jaan’. Even disasters like ‘Rangoon’ and ‘Raabta’ opened better.
The collections are in the same range as ‘Ok Jaanu’ which finished with lifetime business of 23 crore. The reports of ‘A Gentleman’ is better, so the film should show decent growth over the weekend. But when the start is so low, even getting to a 20-crore weekend looks extremely difficult, unless the movie nearly doubles its business today and rises further on Sunday.

If the same numbers would be given by an Arjun Kapoor film – you wouldn’t be making multiple articles to show how badly it performed – rather would be justifying it since it clashed with 2 smaller bollywood releases and a big Tamil movie along with the issues in the North Indian circuit.
I understand that the movie hasn’t done well nor are the reviews and WOM highly promising but its quite annoying when you declare a film a flop in a day itself – yes you know the maths – but you don’t realize that by spreading such negativity after Day 1ns collections – you are further dampening chances of the movie’s future – coz a lot of readers following your website may cancel their plans foe Saturday and Sunday after reading such depressing articles of yours.
Hence, I kindly request you to not to declare a movie a flop on Day 1 itself.

Saturday is also flat ,WOM is Mixed as expected. Young actors should not do big budget movie ,bcoz if the reports r bad movie become disaster on 1st Day itself. Stars like Salman ,Aamir ,SRK or Hrithik can carry even bad movie if they r action or masala movie
For eg – PRPD (Crap movie ,still Hit) ,Dilwale (Crap movie clash with great movie ,still did 135 cr+ and ATBB in OS) , D3 ( Crap movie but still ATG due to Brand Dhoom and brand Aamir) ,Bang Bang (Crap movie ,clash with great movie but did 145 cr and BB in OS)
That’s why they r superstars and some people compare them in bad phase with Young stars, even in last decade Salman fan following was more than double of these young stars ,he did not make millions of fans by only one Dabbang.
