7:30PM Evening Update: FAN has picked up at multiplexes in the evening on Saturday. Since the film is not performing at smaller centres and single-screens, it needed a big jump at multiplexes, which hasn’t come as of 6PM in the evening. Unless business escalates quite significantly in the night, the film is looking at a drop of around 5-10% on Saturday, which would mean Day 2 total of around 17 crore net.
There were two IPL matches today, one at 4PM and the other at 8PM. It remains to be seen what sort of impact it has had and will have on business today.
Morning Update: Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN has taken a slower start on Saturday morning as compared to the occupancy for the morning shows on Friday. This is normal for a film featuring SRK in the lead, because a lot of people watch his films ‘first day first show’ on the day of release.
The average occupancy at multiplexes on Saturday morning is about 15-20% lower than Friday (which was a partial holiday for Ram Navami). The evening / night shows on Saturday will be crucial, because it’s for these shows that multiplex business peaks.
For FAN, multiplex business at cities has become even more important because mass centres and single-screens are not performing due to lack of appeal (no songs, no leading lady etc). The reports from smaller centres aren’t very positive either. So the fate of the film is dependent on a good hold on Saturday and big growth on Sunday.
FAN will also be competing with the ‘The Jungle Book’ which is on a phenomenal record-breaking run at the Indian box office. The film has already collected Rs 83 crore in 8 days and should cross the 100 crore mark by the end of its second weekend. ‘The Jungle Book’ is also likely to become the highest grosser of the year, ahead of an acclaimed multiplex film like ‘Airlift’ which did business of Rs 128 crore net.
Fan will struggle….Reports from mass centers not encouraging!!!

First of all i have to say that iam not a big fan of Srk. I
like him very much but iam not a diehard fan.
I watched the film from Kerala nd here Srk commands a
decent fan following. Unlike other bollywood stars, In Kerala there is huge die hard nd dedicated fans for Srk nd Salman in Kerala. I think thats the reason for Fan running with house full shows in most centres in Kerala despite the clash with record breaking Theri, Jungle book, JSR, King liar, Kali
The firs half of the film was well grounded nd there were great sentimental and emotional scenes nd we feel that the real SRK is back. The first half was slow but no lagging. (A superb first half with Srk award worthy acting.)
The second half get in to Gaurav nd Aryan fight nd second half was a little fast with some decent nd engaging action. (far better action than Dilwale).but some one feel that the second half is like a larger than life movie.( A above avg/gud second half with some decent action nd also a little bit pace than first half)
After Ra one, HNY, DILWALE SRK acting was questioned by many times by media. BUT HERE IS GUD NEWS SRK ACTING TALENT IS STILL THERE. All doubt will clear when u watch Gaurav’s award worthy acting.
Audience giving mixed to positive reviews nd critics also giving mixed to positive reviews for the film. Everybody saying that the first half was superb nd some critics saying that the second half was letdown.Actually it was not a letdown. I think they saying this because the first half was well grounded nd classy that most suitable for multiplex audience but the second half suddenly change into a larger than life movie mostly suitable for single screen audience(but dont compare it to Dilwale/HNY its far far better than them)
I feel that its pace nd result is just like Airlift. Airlift had patriotism thats the reason it got excellent reviews. They r different genre films but i will give the film same rating.
For me Fan was a good movie not very gud /bad/abv avg. Its really a good movie.just go nd grab the ticket.

All those points which you have mentioned, are indeed being touted by SRK fans, not to overcome any “failure”, but to show the supremacy of King Khan as how his movies sell only on his name (without any leading lady/masala/songs).

Fan gets excellent reviews!!! With excellent reviews & positive WOM even Akshay kumar, Sonam kapur can give superhits (eg- airlift, neerja etc). If Mr srk is really bigger star than them then billu 2 will have to become blockbuster at least. Otherwise he will be considered in the same league of Akshay, Sonam etc..
I know this would happen, now from Monday it will crush completely…Srk is no longer a big star he lost his trust….and Srk fans are still living in past…

Billu 2 is just a mindless masala crapp. Gaurav can easily go and come out of many secured places in London and other parts of Europe and go unnoticed.
Even Gaurav enters Aryan’s home unnoticed. When Aryan calls a press-conference to inform the world that the stalker is threat to world revolving around him, how can he not say this to his family.
How his wife easily allows Gaurav to enter inside the house. And yes there are many such scenes in second half. Majority part of second half looks unreal & childish.
Another big loophole in the film is that Gaurav who is a lookalike of Aryan, looks slightly different from Aryan in face features. However there are many sequences where Gaurav looks exactly same as Aryan. Even Aryan’s secretary and wife fails to recognise the differences.
