Entertainment has a good second weekend at the box office

Entertainment‘Entertainment’ has managed to survive the onslaught of a big film like ‘Singham Returns’ to collect around around 9 crore in its second weekend at the box office. The 10-day collections of the film is Rs 65.3 crore, which is much lower than the weekend total of ‘Singham Returns’.

The damage was done in the first week itself when the film failed to put up a big enough total. The multiplex audience simply did not come out in big enough numbers, probably due to the fact that Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ released just a couple of weeks ago and ‘Singham Returns’ was supposed to release a week after.

Akshay has one more release to go this year and even that film doesn’t have the best of release dates. ‘The Shaukeens’ is tentatively scheduled to release on November 7th 2014, two weeks after Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ and on the same day as Ajay Devgn’s ‘Action Jackson’.

Unless Akshay starrers start getting bigger initials at multiplexes, his films would rely on word-of-mouth publicity to recover costs like ‘Holiday: A Solider Is Never Off Duty’.

In short, ‘Entertainment’ was a film that deserved better at the box office. Unfortunately, it would end its run as an average grosser at best.

    37. Tees Maar Khan (This may be shocking for many people even Akki fans but the fact is that TMK was a Semi Hit . But i agree it is one of the worst movies of Akshay Kumar .
Entertainment is Akshay’S 101’St movie . So Akshay has done 101 movies in 23 years . So the average of movies per year is 4.39 . The success ratio of Akshay Kumar is 36.63 % .

  • Akshay needs to realize the fact that he needs to choose great films and less films to get back his stardom. Otherwise he will keep juggling between 50- 70 crores.

  • Feeling sad for akki and entertainment because everybody who seen this film saying good things about and movie was loved by many. Wish they could choose better release date, september would be good as no big commercial film coming next month. Still it won’t be a flop atleast become average so neither a success nor failure.

  • @Anand Vivaan Shah already made his debut with 7 Khoon Maaf..he played the role of Doctor/narrator and is a decent actor..

  • Babaji ka ullu should watch his non holiday release movies which are collecting even less than varun dhawan and allia bhatt movies… If megastar akki releases movies on Diwali( blue -disaster) and on eid ( boss – below average) then I can’t imagine his films collection :(

  • Salman is even smaller star then akki

Jai ho (3900) republic day holiday release – 107.35 cr

    Holiday – a soldier ( 3300) post ipl release – 110 cr

Kick ( 4450 )( two open weeks) (high ticket price) released on biggest box office week – 227.46 cr

    Ce ( 3600 ) ( only 6 days open) released on eid – 228.90 cr

  • @Vikram..Kick is sitting at 230crs..stop using different sources to show the “might” of our King..

  • I am so happy that this film will be a hit. I am the truest Akshay Kumar fan on Indicine but no one realises.
