Even though Salman Khan is competiting with himself at the domestic box office, there is one record that stands tall – the lifetime collections of 3 Idiots. As per official figures from Yash Raj Films, Khan’s EID release Ek Tha Tiger came close, but couldn’t cross the 200 crore mark.

As things stand today, Dabangg 2 has collected Rs 106.5 crore nett in it’s first week, which is about 30 crores lesser than what Ek Tha Tiger managed to collect in 7 days.
Of the three films, Dabangg 2 had the widest release (3500 screens), while Ek Tha Tiger took full advantage of 3 holidays in Week 1. 3 Idiots released on about half the screens, but carried tremendously positive word-of-mouth and managed to break records even in Week 4 and 5.
Quite clearly, Dabangg 2 is not carrying the same WOM and drops during the weekdays have been pretty sharp. But the film has 2 open weeks and the New Year weekend. Can it cross the 200 crore mark? Vote below!

We indians always show good results to bad products, films, political parties, scandals, cases, etc. salman’s films prove that even though they are of no use they wil be profited by people’s money. reasons for low collections:-
1) sliding career of srk….raone.don2>jthj
2) no holiday release….really the film wont be complete till atleast june…there are no holidays in july… in august there are 2 ….i think on eid ouatim 2 will release…while a week later radhey on independence day…in october there are two holiday weekends…oct 2 & oct 11..am sure that kick will come around that time…so no october… in november diwali will be grabbed by hritik… in dec aamir will return with d3…
3) competition from other releses in july or september( becoz these are the only months where srk can dare to release the film)…
so lifetime of ce will be less then 100cr…
last srk film which released on non holiday was mnik & it collected only 75 cr in india…
so taking above factors in mind 2013 is the most dangerous & probably the last year for srk in bollywood!!

Dabangg 2 has lived up to the challenge. Against all detractors, cynics and mischief mongers, Khan brothers (Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan) have won the battle, and how. The film opened on a fantastic note, stayed consistent, showed further rise on Christmas and then enjoyed steady collections on rest of the weekdays as well. Result? More than 107 crores coming in a matter of one week, hence resulting in a film which is a clear superhit already.
With the film’s success, Salman is currently enjoying the kind of streak that no other actor of his generation or anyone else for that matter in last 20 years has ever enjoyed. Yes, Shah Rukh Khan has been consistent, Aamir Khan has enjoyed a peak season as well while Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn have delivered hits at regular intervals as well. However last man before Salman who gave five superhits/blockbusters in a row (and that too in such gargantuan proportion) has been only one man – Amitabh Bachchan!
Now is the time for me to actually make this declaration: Salman Khan in the 21st century has turned out to be what Amitabh Bachchan was in the 20th century! The current generation, which perhaps missed out on the euphoria that Big B once enjoyed, is fortunate to see phenomenon up, close and personal. As for those who have been a witness to Bachchan’s popularity, and before that perhaps Rajesh Khanna, Rajendra Kumar or Dilip Kumar, it is an event of a lifetime which has turned out to be reality two times over.

3 idiots is also not a classic yes it’s better than ett and ett better than d2. But obviously ett is biggest hit of Bollywood followed by 3 idiots with distributor share of 110 cr which is impossible for d2 to achieve . Tnx.
@idea- bro SrK copied Sunny Leones style already because he went semi nude and ‘made out’ with Kat in JTHJ but to no avail as audiences and in particular family audiences did not believe the story line. I mean a 47 yr old buddha making love to a young hot supermodel was so unrealistic. I think you cannot compare Big B and SRK coz Big B accepted his days of Angry Young Man were over so took up ‘supporting character roles’ and managed to come out as the main highlight of the films, ie Mohabbatein. SRK still thinks hes a ‘romantic loverboy’ so his career will continue to slide downwards.
