Ek Tha Tiger: Salman Katrina in Yashraj Film

Some spectacular news! There were several questions floating around in the media and discussion forums over the last few years..

  • Will Salman Khan, whose father Salim Khan shared a warm friendship with Yash Chopra right from Deewar days, ever work with Yashraj? Salman, in his 2 decade career, has never worked with Yashraj Films!
  • There has been a lot written about Salman and Katrina and their off-screen relationship. Its quite correctly assumed by many, that Katrina is what she is today, because of Salman going out of his way to establish her career in Bollywood, after the debacle that Boom was.. way back in 2003. After Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya in 2005, Katrina has never looked back. But recently, after their unconfirmed break-up and the rumours of Katrina secretly dating Ranbir Kapoor, the chances of Katrina and Salman working together seemed next to impossible.

Yet, the official announcement from Yashraj Films comes as a huge surprise. Salman – Katrina will be working together in a Yashraj Film directed by Kabir Khan of New York fame!

Speaking on the film titled Ek Tha Tiger, Yash Chopra said “Everyone knows my association with Salim saab (Salman’s father), having worked together on Deewaar, Trishul and Kaala Patthar. It is a very happy moment for me and Yashraj Films to have his son Salman with us for the first time. Over the years, Salman has become a very matured and talented actor and both he and the beautiful Katrina Kaif have a tremendous connect with their audiences. Combined with Kabir (Khan)’s edgy directorial skills, we can all look forward to a thrilling film. I really loved the script which is based on a story written by Adi (Chopra) and I am sure that the whole team will do an excellent job on this project.”

Salman Khan too seems to be very excited about Ek Tha Tiger “In the past Adi and I have met a few times on various projects but somehow, when Kabir and he came to me with this particular story, we all just knew that this was the one. It is a very ambitious project and will be a challenge for all of us, but that’s exactly what makes it such a big draw. Above all this, I’m honoured to be working with Yashji, who has worked so closely with my Dad in the past”
