Dum Maro Dum has done reasonably good business in its first five days at the box office, collecting a decent 20 crores in 5 days.
20 crores may not be quite as big in the multiplex era that we live in, but its huge if you compare this to the last few Abhishek Bachchan films. Raavan was a flop, Khele Hum Jee Jaan Se was a non-starer and eventually was a box office disaster. Game, released on April 1st was easily beaten by FALTU, a film with no stars.
Humiliating, it must have been. But Abhishek Bachchan, like he always does, has bounced back. While the drops have been pretty sharp on Monday, business on Tuesday and Wednesday is steady. Can the film touch the 25 crore mark for Week 1? If it does, it still does have a long way to go to avoid the FLOP tag.
The makers have invested somewhere between 35 – 40 crores on Dum Maro Dum and recovery purely from theatrical business, isn’t going to be easy.
Likely verdict: Average if steady, Flop if the film crashes in Week 2.
