Celebrated designers and labels for this year’s Fashion Fiesta include Deanoor from Italy, Ritu Kumar from India, Preeti Chandra from India, Larisa Karts from Holland, Deeya Nanda from India, Falguni & Shane Peacock again from India, Dia from UAE, Jessica Joyce from Holland, SARV Atelier once again India, Mystic Mantra India again, and Amato from UAE. The highlight on the first day will be the collections of Zahara Mohammed, who presented her collections at the Miami Fashion Week this year.

Launched to bring together designers, buyers, and fashion enthusiasts, Dubai Fashion Fiesta or DFF is slated to attract wide media attention due to the inclusion of high profile participants. The larger aim of the fashion extravaganza is to contribute in promoting Dubai as the fashion hub in the region.

July 24
Deanoor, Ritu Kumar, and Zahra Mohammed will showcase their collections on the opening day of Dubai Fashion Fiesta 2008.

July 25
On July 25, Preeti Chandra (India), and Larisa Karts (Holland) will present their collections. Preeti Chandra will present her Fusion Collection – a synergy between tradition and contemporary design. Larisa Karts, the famous Dutch designer is known for her use of different fabrics that express a symbiosis of organic shapes and imitation.

July 26
Falguni & Shane Peacock (India), Deeya Nanda (India), and Jessica Joyce (Holland) will present their collections on July 26. The Falguni & Shane Peacock brand started retailing in India in 2002 and is today available in major fashion capitals such as London, Dubai, Athens, Hong Kong, Singapore, and New York. Dutch fashion designer Jessica Joyce is an explorer in the field of contemporary women’s wear. Her collections are known to be sleek, edgy, and avant-garde. Deeya Nanda is a young graduate from Central St. Martins and the London College of Fashion and premiered her collection at the London Graduate Fashion Week.

July 27
SARV Atelier (India), Mystic Mantra (India), and Amato (UAE) are the brands showcasing collections on the last day of Dubai Fashion Fiesta. The SARV Atelier brand made its debut in Mumbai, and is known to skillfully combine Indian motifs. Mystic Mantra is a bespoke fashion label established in 2006 by India’s first female designer duo Priyanka Shah and Ruchita. Amato, a local brand catering to the elite, will showcase its collections in ladies couture wear.

Shows for the opening of Dubai Fashion Fiesta 2008

Renowned names in the global fashion scene Deannor and Ritu Kumar, and local designer Zahra Mohammed, will showcase their collections on the opening night of the event. Deanoor, started by Datin Noor Fatimah, began specializing in batik trading and tailoring of traditional and contemporary garments, later moving on to designing modern apparel. After having earned a reputable name in the local fashion industry, Datin Noor entered the international fashion scene with immense success.

The second show on July 24 features the collections of Ritu Kumar, one of India’s foremost designers and a pioneer in the Indian fashion industry. She is credited as being one of the first Indian designers in bringing a contemporary idiom to several ancient skills.
