Double Dhamaal is the last release of June and would end what has been a decent first-half of the year for the Hindi Film Industry. The film has opened to a good response at the box office and as expected it has performed better at single screens.
According to initial reports, collections at Delhi and the rest of North India are strong. Mumbai circuit opened to around 50% – 60% collections (average till 4PM shows). Down south, the movie started of slow, but is picking up slowly.
For the evening and night shows the advance booking is pretty good. A few multiplexes (Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kochi) are already sold out for late evening and night shows. At Big Cinemas Mangalore (Karnataka), the evening 7PM show was almost housefull, 10 PM shows so far are about 50% booked.
The first day figures are expected to be good. The word-of-mouth ranges from poor to very positive. Anything between 6 to 9 crores for Day 1 is possible! More updates soon..
