National Award winning actor Sunny Deol, who is busy promoting his film “I Love New Year”, is contented with Indian audience and doesn’t feel the need to go to the Oscars.
“What is the need for Indians to go to the Oscars? (Indians ko Oscar jaane ki zaroorat kya hai?). Aren’t we happy here? Make the Indian audience happy. We have a population of 130 crore, is it not enough?” Sunny Deol told reporters during the theatrical trailer release of “I Love New Year” Monday.
In his 30 years’ acting journey, the 56-year-old bagged two National Awards for “Ghayal” and “Damini” and says they came as a surprise to him.
“Everybody has an individual take on it. I am not a believer of these things (Oscars). I was surprised when I got the National Award. I was like how the hell did I get it?”
Media shy Sunny talked candidly at the event and said: “Everything is manipulated these days. Things are such that we ourselves give the news and read the other day.”
Known for his action roles, the actor’s “I Love New Year” is a romantic comedy.
“As an actor I want to do everything. With comedy, it gets gentler… in action, it’s much about fighting. My fans should also see the other side of me,” he said.
Co-directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao, “I Love New Year” also features Kangna Ranaut in the female lead and is slated for an April 26 release.

But indicine made a misinterpreting headline,that he doesnt believe in oscars.
Sunny is right that the country has population of 130 crores and “Gadar” was watched by only 4 crore people so 1st make Indian audiences happy but some other stars like srk don’t understand this and even though they have just 8-10 fans in different countries they starts considering themselves global star.

Now sunny also don’t care of awards after aamir,salman,ajay,akshay and saif but the remaining others like srk cares bcoz the awards only gives them hype,publicity and limelight which is necessary bcoz even their megabudget movies struggles at the box office.

Sunny bhai you are absolutely right. Gadar is and will always be remembered by Indians because it was viewed by the most number of people.
Now thats a real award to have in your trophy cabinet- The Most Viewed Film of All Time.
awards are meant for hritik and srk who pile on it for publicity…awrads are judged 5-6 people who think thy knw everythin ..audience verdict is ulitamate..thy make and make a movie diaster…and critics are clowns..

Awards are giving for there performance not for they poplarlity guys if awards are not important so how can you see us performance:) my point is any field whether acting are sports are education you need something in your life to satisfy needs so that end of the day you can remember you earn something great :)
@ IMAM : For you India’s audience verdict looks like barking ? Remember the same audience had given success to ur idol and now u cannot digest the success of other actors… that is the reality. About quality of movies, FYI … srk was the first among khans to do all cheap movies (maya memsaab, guddu, zaamana deewana). I know you wont believe it but thank God youtube is there as evidence. Go n watch these oscar winning performances of srk in above movies. You will regret being a srk fan !!!!!!

Oscars are an award ceremony to honor the best films that are made in English, and esp. Hollywood.
They just have one category for best foreign films. How can that justify the award only God knows with so many thousands movie released in every foreign language every year?
So, to run after that one illogical award, people spend millions in promoting. Instead if they put that millions in making some good films, they would have much more success.
Karan Johar and like-minded people are just smitten by Oscars. They just want to be part of Hollywood, but in reality Hollywood doesn’t bother about others, as they are too selfish about themselves, and they are right, why should they be bothered about Indian, Chinese or Iranian movies?
People don;t relaise this simple logic and just to get that fame, or name printed in a glossy magazine abroad, they spend millions.
Bollywood already have so many awards that nowadays it doesn’t make any sense in watching them, as most of the them are just trying to out to each other and all knows that to an extent it is an understanding that works. Even the National Awards are rigged.
Just imagine, after a few years, who will care for who won an award in a particular year?
All we would remember is the performances (whether action, romance or comedy), the story etc., of the film?
So, in a sense award is actually nothing for the audience and they don’t judge a movie on how many award he/she won, as rightly said by Sunny,. All people remembers are the things they liked about the movie, so, better these people concentrate on making entertaining movies.
