About a month after the release of Shahrukh Khan’s Don 2, it’s time for another superstar to return to the big-screen. It’s Hrithik Roshan for the first time after the universal success of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
After two failures in Guzaarish and Kites, the success of the Zoya Akhtar directed film will prove to be hugely beneficial for Karan Malhotra’s Agneepath remake.
Right at this moment, between Don 2 and Agneepath, the later is clearly the more awaited film. News and pictures of Katrina Kaif’s item number has only increased the hype. And all this, even before the release of the music or the theatrical trailer. Honestly, we wouldn’t be surprised if Agneepath manages to match the opening of Ra One, even without the 5 day extended weekend.
There is a lot of similarity between the two films too. Both are action films, Priyanka Chopra plays the female lead and both are versions of classic Amitabh Bachchan films. Talking of the original Bachchan films, Don in 1978 was a huge hit while Agneepath released in 1990 didn’t do too well at the box-office.

Lets check the fact related to both DON2 and Agnepath, DON2 stars SRK, Priyanka, Lara, Kunal, Boman Irani and it is directed by class film-maker: Farhan Akhtar & produced by Excel Entertainment. Whereas, Agnepath stars Hrithik, Priyanka, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and it is directed by Karan Malhotra & produced by Dharma Productions. DON2 will get a good start (mainly at multiplexes in metros) due to SRKs star power but the collections in the single screens at B grade or C grade locations will accelerate only if the content of the movie is good which will play a vital role in the final tally of lifetime box office collection. In the otherhand, Agnepath has a mass appeal in it, it will start with a bang in both multiplexes (for Hrithik) and single screens (for Sanjay Dutt) but the overall domestic collection of the movie mainly depends on how it performs in the sigle screens as the movie will have a shorter run in the multiplexes as compared to single screens. Overall, Agnepath has the potential to be a winner in comparison to DON2 by a few crores but remember KHANS are above any predictions, SRK can make every equations go wrong. Anyways, records held by 3 Idiots, Bodyguard and Dabaang are safe from both the movies. Lets hope for the best.

Two similar films.. two actions films.. why would they release in the same time?!! It will be a loss for both films! they both will do good but wl not do a huge collection coz ppl will select one of them to watch, and the other one wl be watched either online or on a dvd disk. one of them must be postponed.

I do not think so if there is any comparision between both. there is no doubt that DON 2 is smasher and will challenge 3 idiot record. Agneepath will do well comparing to Hrithik last release but no where can challenge huge DON 2.

There is no doubt that SRK is no.1 but DON2’s promos looking not so good as DON..But Agneepath promos is extremly rokzzzz and HR looking so HOT and most thinkable part is Hrithik is sexiest Asian Men in 2011…So, I think Agneepath will better response than Don2…

There is no healthy hype created by Don 2 but the first trailer of Agneepath created a record breaking response all over. It’s true that some portion of audience will not like even it becomes 10 times better than the original Agneepath, yet no one will be able to stop creating fire at BO. It will surely be burning all the theaters despite having the same release date of Tezz. The hype is so huge that the four day weekend will be enough to call it a Hit because of earning 18-20 crores per day in the first 4 days. It will be a blind hit for sure. FYI, the song chikni chameli has already been told by some trade annalists to be the mother of all item numbers in recent years so it will be effective. Hrithik will undoubtedly give exptected performance and the Sunjy dutt will add some fire to it as well. So I don’t see any reason for this movie to be flop. If a film like Singham can cross 100 crore marks, then what the hell could be wrong with Agneepath??
