Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, for the first time, spoke about the box office performance of his Christmas release, Dilwale. The actor said, the domestic collections of the film were disappointing for him, but stated that he was ‘thrilled’ with how the film has performed overseas.
“I don’t think the film has done as well as it should have. I am personally disappointed with that” Shah Rukh said.
“To be honest, it has perhaps not done as well in India as I would like it to do. But overseas it has done very well in a lot of countries like Germany, Austria. It is quite thrilling that Indian films are reaching far and wide. There is a lot of business opportunities” he said.
In a box office clash, which was touted to be one-sided before release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani surpassed Dilwale at the domestic box office. However, the Rohit Shetty directed film became one of the Top 5 highest grossers of all time in the overseas markets.

When will Dilwale Cross 3 idiots in India??
@sky Dilwale is a flop in domestic market ? No buddy, we aren’t talking about Aamir Khan’s Talaash here ?

@ hrithik – 2:26 pm
Don’t lie !
Some idiot Bhai fans like you trended #NationalAwardForBhaijaan after the release of BB . And now you say that you don’t need awards …?
i think fan will flop bcoz of billu type of movie but raees looks interseting so its chances to gave 200 cr
@hrithik did you even read my comment ?
I said he will get a black lady ‘next year’. How on earth will SRK get a Filmfare award for Dilwale ‘next year’ ?
#Kaali
If the movie has failed at the domistic box office then there are so many reasons !!
1. Protests – it demoralized alot of people to watch dilwale instead of bm .
every srk hater be it aamir khan or Deepika padukone or Slb or Eros now
hit on srk at the right time .
2. Majority of people who were hurt by srk’s intolerance remark watched bm to show their hatred towards srk.
3. Alot of srk haters be it media, websites
were giving extremely promising reviews to bm and showing it masterpiece.
4. Srk made a huge mistake by becoming distributor inceptivly. Lack of inexperience
he should have signed yrf which he didn’t.
4. Messages against dilwale and people calling to boycott dilwale which actually created unwillingness in people’s heart.
5. Dilwale had not a very acceptable story or repeat value at all which was not a good sign for a movie which is clashing with another movie ….!!!!!!!
6. Hypocrite Eros booked maximum single screens in order to nullify all the possibilities of dilwale performing well enough in single screens …!!!
6. Multiplex audience chose bm over dilwale. Dilwale did really great business in overseas which is simply a cool sign !!!
drawing a conclusion all odds were against dilwale and all things were in favour of bm.
As a die-hard srk fan I will be extremely happy if the clash between Raees vs sultan take place for real ….!!!
it has been almost 8 years that sallu hasn’t faced such a situation… let him face it and his arrogant and brainless fans will come to know. What is a clash !!!!!!!!
@sht give me list of 18 out of 20 films of srk mentioned in top 20 overseas list ever.If it below than 17 what will you do man. stop being over statistics. Show me the 17-18 films man in any time in overseas top 20.
Success and failures are part of everyone’s life . Other stars had also faced such low phase which was much more worser . Hope Srk bounces back with Fan and Raees .
@lejand tingu Khan .. But Dilwale has already surpassed Jai Ho & Talaash which released after 3 idiots ???
#Kaali
@ Sky :
Before the release of Ghajini , out of Top 15 Overseas Grossers – 13 were SRK-starrers !
What happened fellow BM moved too far ahead so you could not use Red Chillies calculator fast enough to do your manipulations. Too bad everyone is wising up to your underhanded tricks. Time to wise up and realize that failure and success starts on home turf and your time of dishonesty is now getting pay back time.
@Kaali that why I said Dilwale is flop, as Talaash was semi-hit dude, hit as per Taran verdict (Indicine fav when come to srk films).I am also talking about Dilwale flop.Hahaha.
Dub mark Kali.
Indicine
Will you not publish ‘Top 10 Actor – Overseas’ article ?
Srk finally admits that he made a big mistake clashing with bajirao mastani. His statement over intolerance affected the collections of dilwale, luckily, I didn’t watched dilwale.
@sush, hey dude who are why are u using my name but i loved your comment i m also hater of
S har K..!
@indicine I see you are still continuing to encourage your @indicine fan to refer to Salman Khan as a criminal on article about SRK don’t you think this is the highest level of hypocrisy. Are you going to allow @indicine to continue commenting or are you going to do what you said earlier that such will no longer be permitted. I would like to see you give us your answer.

Yes, the collections were not great in Domestic and disappointing but still it is not a FLOP. That speaks the standard that SRK has set and the expectations from viewers on him.
With just one movie of SRK under performing (despite shows cancelled in the first week which is very crucial ) and that too only in domestic , it is funny to see people criticizing/abusing SRK.
I think these jokers forgot Talash and Jaiho conveniently. Ok there can be one of cases , but if we look back few years down the lane, salu and aamir were king of series of flops and disasters. May be for these fandom the Bollywood existed only in the recent years
Salman and Amir were lucky to have got best release date. They never faced the stiff Competition before.Their real stardom will be tested only when they are challenged.
SRK had never got an good release date except HNY.
Its like running lonely and coming first
Truth is SRK movie under performer’s collection is dream for Aky and Ajay
With FAN and RAEES SRK will bounce back in terms of Boxoffice and critics. His last 100% critcs & boxoffice blockbuster was RNBDJ…C.E was ATBB as per boxoffice, but crtics hated that film…Hope fan and raees rewrite history….
Lol… SRK’s biggest under perfomer Dilwale collected 370cr worldwide…. mega chaar lallllluu’s blockbuster kick collected 360cr.. Big lol…. lets enjoy SHAGGY shit and other crapfans
@Neeraj, you are right, but my comment was targeted to srk fans who belittled other actor’s achievement in domestic market all along claiming srk films are for intellectuals abroad. lolz.
Srk salman aamir all are huge superstars its jst the matter of content and release date after three days which decides final numbers
Haters think srk’s stardom has fallen then why do you compare your favorite actor to none other than srk. We have seen for the last 2 decades that each and every actor compared to srk.
Trend are like this:
SRK VS ANIL KAPOOR
SRK VS GOVINDA
SRK VS JACKIE SHROFF
SRK VS SUNNY DEOL
SRK VS HRITHIK
SRK VS AAMIR KHAN
SRK VS SALMAN KHAN
SRK VS ?
dont get disappointed, instead of it just choose good script, stop to work in hny,ce,ra1…dont make any bullshit comments think before what you are saying, dont do again arrogent act that had done in wankhede……..if this all you can do,then dont need to get disappointed again…….
& i feel good when i heard that dilwale is hit at overseas…….means indian audiance is not the only one who makes crap movies hit….you know what i mean
