Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, for the first time, spoke about the box office performance of his Christmas release, Dilwale. The actor said, the domestic collections of the film were disappointing for him, but stated that he was ‘thrilled’ with how the film has performed overseas.
“I don’t think the film has done as well as it should have. I am personally disappointed with that” Shah Rukh said.
“To be honest, it has perhaps not done as well in India as I would like it to do. But overseas it has done very well in a lot of countries like Germany, Austria. It is quite thrilling that Indian films are reaching far and wide. There is a lot of business opportunities” he said.
In a box office clash, which was touted to be one-sided before release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani surpassed Dilwale at the domestic box office. However, the Rohit Shetty directed film became one of the Top 5 highest grossers of all time in the overseas markets.
Its just the result of working with farah khan and rohit shetty.And please keep yor businesses aside from filmmaking or next time it will b worse. #fan500crore

SRK fans putting all the blame to show cancellations! Lol those might have contributed a maximum of 5-8 crores (best case scenario). Still the movie wouldn’t have touched 150 cr nett in India. So, like the case with PRDP the content was rightfully rejected by the public in India. PRDP reached 194 cr (as per BOI) just coz it got the best release period, 4 day first weekend and solo release. Otherwise that too would have folded under 150 cr like Dilwale. A welcome change in the movie going public in India, content is going to be the king from here on.
overseas is his territory so scoring huge with an average movie is not a big deal for him… domestic collections matters more than overseas if u’r film only does average business domestically and even lost to a young generation star in clash is such a SHAMEFUL thing ?? remember, this nation make u star after that u’r popular in overseas
hope he control his ego at the time of RICE SELLER release, bcoz I think even RUCE SELLER face trouble bcoz of Pakistani Actress and think 1000 times before clashing with megastar bhai’s $ULTAN bcoz $ULTAN was not looking like a typical Bhai movie as director already said it !!!

While Dilwale is a flop in the domestic box office but it is srk highest grosser in overseas beating Mnik.And srk fans say only overseas audience has class.
Sorry SRK but I am not disappointed with the collection, yes it collected well below the mark which I predicted but its writing on the wall when an actor like you wasting yourself in back to back masala films with CE,hny & Dilwale. waiting for Fan for a change.
Srk has 8 movies of $10 mn plus in overseas from 2010 till now which is more than combined Bollywood actors records in same period which is considered to be srk’s weakest phase. Just imagine his dominance when his in 90s and 2000 when his 17-18 movies listed in top 20.
Now srk has 10 ATBB, 8 BB, 5 superhit and 12 hits in overseas market.

the truth is profits from overseas collections for every Sarook movie is less than the money he spends from his personal account to promote his movies overseas. that’s how he is surviving since ra one days. money talks.
others don’t go overboard with overseas release n promotions exactly for this reason. cos it’s not worth it.

Whoever were saying that overseas people are “intellectuals”, well, that image is shattered by the collections of Dilwale in overseas.
The truth is, they are just like people in domestic market, except having an NRI tag. They too run after favourites that pampers their taste…….because at the end of the day…..they are from the same “mitti”.
Today, only Aamir’s movie has a global reach, because they are not seen by NRIs, but by global audience from different countries, speaking different languages.
Aamir is the “real” global icon of India.

It is good to see that SRK spoke the truth . In this decade Dilwale is the biggest underperformer of SRK . I will not talk about Overseas Collections because i knew that Dilwale will do more than BM in Overseas Markets . Dilwale was looking like the Biggest Movie after a long time and the collections are pretty ordinary which will hurt the fans and the distributors . Apart from Acting SRK is also producing movies like Ra.One, CE, HNY and Dilwale which is foolish . If you are investing your money in a movie you are responsible for the movie . With the performance of Dilwale the road looks tough ahead for SRK although he can do an encore with Fan and Raees . After the performance of Dilwale he will never dare to speak about political and social issues . There is no point in talking about those situations which you are not aware about . Many SRK Fans will give the excuse of Protests and cancelled shows but they should remember that SRK is responsible for all this .

According to Srk fans, before Dec 18 SLB was supposed to commit suicide, cast of BRM supposed to be on road and Dilwale supposed to crush BRM and now the see the result whose ego is crushed n who is feeling disappointed. What’s the big fuss about Germany and Austria collections of Dilwale? Germany its just $150,000 (95 lakhs).. Star Wars has collected $88,000,000 (572 crore) in the same country… No comparison at all.
