Dilwale Day 9 (2nd Saturday) Box Office Collections

Dilwale was steady on its 9th day at the box office, but the collections are now down to low levels. The Rohit Shetty directed film is a profitable venture for Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, but domestic distributors of the film are set to lose a big chunk of their investment.

There are several reasons why the film has been below-the-mark in India; One, the clash should have been averted, both films have lost money but Dilwale has ended up losing more. Two, protests and show cancellations affected the business of the film in quite a few centres in the all-important first weekend.

Three, since most people cannot afford to watch two films in theatres at multiplexes, they had a choice to make and they opted for Bhansali’s magnum opus over Shetty’s entertainer. And finally, the family audience that were expected to throng to theatres to watch Dilwale, haven’t come out in big numbers during the Christmas weekend.

The difference in lifetime collections of Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale is now down to around 8.5 crore. The Ranveer Singh starrer is likely to overtake the SRK film on Monday or Tuesday.

Note: The official figures for Day 9 has not been officially released by Red Chillies Entertainment. The 9th Day figure is as per trade estimates.

  • Dont worry!
DILWALE will win the clash even if it is by 1 or 2 cr.
Dilwale lost around 1200 screens & still performing similar to 1st week weekdays.
While Bajirao Mastani is running in more than 3700 screens now, but still performing similar to 1st week.
    Who’s hold is more then?

Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.

DILWALE will surely win the clash.

  • Ok, Dilwale lost 2-3 crs bcz of protests n show cancellation in few cities. Baaki ke 30-40 crs kahan gaye jo hone chahiye the. Making 8 crs on XMAS n blaming it on protest is the worst kinda excuse. Accept Dilwale is not a good movie n failed miserably at domestic BO n move on. Hope Fan n Raees do the job for SRK.

  • Dilwale was nice film…

waiting for Azharuddin Biopic , Raaz 4 and Tigers next year…..

    Happy new yr in advance…

  • Dilwale is a thing of the past now. There’s no need to fret about the movie’s underwhelming performance. After getting disappointed seeing the initial trends I have realized we need to take it in our stride and see it in a positive manner.Maybe if the movie had become a huge hit SRK it would have encouraged Srk to do more such movies.
Personally Dilwale is Srk’s worst movie for me.HNY was silly but was entertaining.Dilwale disappointed me in every aspect.
But even in srk’s so called bad phase he’s consistently churning out hits which proves why he’s considered to be the biggest star ever in Bollywood.
Let’s wait for his upcoming releases which would bring the old “SRK” back.

  • thats sad, 1st time i supported srk’s film at the BO against a clash of bhansali, wanted him to show to these wannabe’s whos the boss, shame, it couldn’t keep up.

  • You missed the biggest reason Indicine. Movie is ordinary and people are no longer accepting mundane run of the mill stuff with open arms.

  • dude @Pokemon why did Dilwale lose 1200 screens in the first place?? And why BM still more than 3000 screens….hope you got the message clearly…Lol

  • Now SRK officially join the elite group of Akshay Kumar
Congrats Srkian best of luck for Fan all of you badly need this

  • Pokemon, that is the worst thing i have ever heard..i mean seriously..dilwale petforming better than bajirao..lollzz..wtf did u just say..

  • Now SRK officially join the elite group of Akshay Kumar
Congrats Srkian best of luck for Fan all of you badly need this.

  • It is surely Underperforming at the box office.
From here on lifetime is looking at 145-150 crs in India and Overseas also around 150 crs.
SRK needs to Focus more on content oriented movies rather than promoting his movies.
