Dil Dhadakne Do Box Office Collections: Crosses 50 crore mark

Dil Dhadakne Do is on a steady run, which has ensured that the  Zoya Akhtar film has now crossed the 50 crore mark in 6 days at the domestic box office.

The film took a good opening last Friday, showed fantastic growth in business both on Saturday and Sunday. Considering the costs and the word-of-mouth that the film was carrying, the drop on Monday was a little on the higher side. But since Dil Dhadakne Do was collecting well only at high-end multiplexes, the difference in weekend and weekday ticket prices were always going to bring down the collections of the film.

To compare Dil Dhadakne Do with Tanu Weds Manu Returns, the Zoya Akhtar film collected Rs 37.05 crore in first weekend and Rs 15.34 crore in the next 3 days (Monday – Wednesday). On the other hand, the Aanand L Rai film collected 38.15 crore during its first weekend, but the difference is huge during the weekdays as ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ collected Rs 24.8 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ also had a open second week at the box office and did extraordinarily well during the lucrative ‘Post-IPL’ period. This has ensured that the film will finish with lifetime collections of around 145 crore, whereas Dil Dhadakne Do, a much costlier film, will settle with total domestic business of around 90 crore.
